WATCH: PM Imran allocates meal among the deserving people

Prime Minister Imran Khan was seen allocating meal among the deserving at the launch of the ‘No One Sleeps Hungry‘ initiative earlier today in Islamabad.

Previously, addressing the launching ceremony of the program in Islamabad, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the purpose of the program was to provide better food to the labourers.

PM Imran said that many philanthropists want to participate in this program.

Before his address, Special Assistant Sania Nishtar briefed the Prime Minister on the program.

Earlier, Senator Faisal Javed announced in a tweet that the premier had talked about his plan about it earlier this year. Now, he said that the program is formally being launched.

Labourers and deserving people on roads will be food through mobile vans. With the passage of time, the service will be expanded across the country.

President Alvi Ensures Equal Rights, Opportunities For Minorities

President Dr Arif Alvi has on Tuesday ensured that the incumbent government is striving to protects the rights of minorities.

In Islamabad today, the President held a meeting with members of the National Commission of Minorities, led by Chairman Chela Ram Kewlani.

President Alvi made his remarks to provide equal opportunities to minorities and encouraged them to play their role for the betterment of society and the country.

He further assured them that holy places such as churches, shrines and temples are being protected with all possible efforts.

Earlier, President Arif Alvi had shed light on women’s empowerment, saying it is possible through better health, education, hereditary rights as well as financial independence.

The present government has passed several laws to empower women, he had added.

The President further said that the laws for women’s rights are not being implemented although they exist in the country.

PDM will field a joint candidate for office of Senate Deputy Chairman: Maulana Fazl

The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that they had formed a committee to decide who will be the candidate for the office of Senate deputy chairman.

Maulana Fazl has announced about this decision during a press conference alongside Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz in Islamabad.

PPP’s Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif addressed the gathering via video link.

The JUI-F leader said, the committee will hold its first meeting tomorrow to deliberate on possible candidates.”

Earlier in a day, PDM has nominated Yousuf Raza Gilani for the post of Chairman Senate.

Sources said that Yousuf Raza Gilani was nominated for the post of Senate Chairman by the PPP in the PDM summit today. The PDM approved him for the post of Chairman Senate.

According to sources, PML-N and Awami National Party have also announced their support for Yousuf Raza Gilani for the chairmanship of the Senate.

Yousuf Raza Gilani said that he was grateful to the PDM and attributed the success of the Senate seat to them. The rulers are not digesting this defeat.

Sources also said that in the meeting, Nawaz Sharif suggested to the PPP to nominate Yousuf Raza Gilani for the chairmanship of the Senate, and Nawaz Sharif also announced his support for Yousuf Gilani.

PPP all set to head towards PDM-led long march on 26 March, sources

After the major political drama during the Senate Elections and National Assembly, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is all set to head towards the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)-led long march against the PTI-led government.

According to sources, the PPP has finalized arrangements for the PDM’s long march towards Islamabad from Karachi on March 26.

Other party members will also join the caravan from Sindh province as well, sources added.

Ahsan Iqbal, the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leader had announced that PDM will move forward, to begin the long march against the incumbent government from Karachi on March 26.

Furthermore, the long march will begin from Karachi and the party members will reach Islamabad by March 30, said Ahsan Iqbal.

He added, “PDM has decided that convoys from all over Pakistan will reach Islamabad on March 30 at 3 o’clock. PDM’s movement has entered into the final stage.”

Prime Minister Imran Khan has on Saturday said that to make Pakistan a welfare state is my ultimate goal.

In an interview, PM Imran Khan said that in the past political recruitments were made in the institutions and our government has brought people in the institutions on merit.

Criticism is an essential part of society and there has to be freedom in place for it, the premier said.

The premier added that we have made the institutions independent and the government has no control over the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The Prime Minister, however, said that what some segments of the media label as U-turns, are just parts of my strategy. He said some of the criticism on him is replete with malicious intent and those who perpetrate it are exposed on their own.

The reason behind my change in the strategy is to materialize a win, he said, adding that even in the times of cricket, he had to tolerate people criticizing his decisions.
