IHC fixes Nawaz’s appeals in Azizia, Avenfield references for hearing

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has fixed appeals of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in Avenfield and Al-Azizia references for hearing on November 21.

Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb will hear the references.

The court had restored Nawaz Sharif’s appeals on his return from abroad.

It should be noted that Nawaz Sharif was sentenced by the accountability court in Al-Azizia and Avonfield references, while Nawaz Sharif has challenged the verdicts since 2018.

Earlier, Islamabad High Court had reinstated Nawaz Sharif’s appeals against his sentence in the Al-Azizia and Avonfield references.

According to President District Bar Islamabad Qaiser Imam, there was no legal complication in the restoration of appeals, Nawaz Sharif’s appeals had to be restored, and the law is clear, but what is in the decision on Nawaz Sharif’s bail issue has to be seen.

IHC reserves verdict on bail plea of Qureshi

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC)  reserved its judgement petitions of PTI’s vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi against his indictment and seeking his post-arrest bail in a cipher case.

Prosecutor Raja Rizwan Abbasi and Shah Mahmood’s lawyer Ali Bukhari appeared in the court.

Prosecutor Raja Rizwan objected to Shah Mahmood’s bail petition and said that it was essential for the petitioner to submit the certificate as per the judgment of the top court.

On this, Justice Amir Farooq rejected the objection of the prosecution and asked the FIA to give arguments in the case.

During the hearing, Shah Mahmood’s lawyer said that the trial court had rejected his client’s bail and this is the first petition for bail in the High Court after the trial court rejected the bail. He said, “We attached a photocopy of the document as the original copy was not provided to us”.

Special Prosecutor Raja Rizwan Abbasi argued that the trial court had indicted the accused on October 23, after completing legal requirements. The copies of the case record had also been shared with the defense, he said.

He prayed the court to dismiss the bail petition of the accused.

ISLAMABAD:  A five-year-old contempt of court petition against former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif for anti-judiciary speeches has been set for hearing.

A citizen has filed a contempt of court petition against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in which contempt of court action has been requested against Nawaz Sharif for his 2018 statements.

The Islamabad High Court has fixed the contempt petition of Muslim League (N) leader Nawaz Sharif for hearing, which will be heard on September 15.

Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Amir Farooq will hear the contempt of court petition pending from 2018.

Chairman PTI’s plea for bail in cypher case set for hearing

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court(IHC) Justice Amir Farooq will hear the bail plea of ​​Chairman Pakistan Tehreak Insaf(PTI) in the cypher case on Monday(September 25).

The Islamabad High Court has fixed the PTI chairman’s bail petition in the cypher case for hearing.

Registrar Islamabad High Court has released the cause list for next week, according to which Chief Justice Amir Farooq will hear the bail plea of Chairman PTI on Monday.

The court has issued a notice to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) ​​for arguments while the Official Secrets Act court had rejected the bail plea of ​​Chairman PTI.

On the other hand, after the decision was reserved on the transfer request of Chairman PTI from Attock Jail to Adiala Jail, the case was also set for re-hearing.

Chief Justice Amir Farooq will hear again on September 25 the transfer request of Chairman PTI from Attock Jail to Adiala Jail.

IHC fixes Toshakhana criminal case for hearing

IHC approves bails of Shah Mahmood, Asad Umar

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) fixed the Toshakhana criminal case for hearing with objections on tomorrow(Wednesday).

Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Justice Amir Farooq will hear the case tomorrow.

It should be noted that Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf(PTI) has challenged the trial court’s decision to make the Toshakhana case admissible. Additional Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar declared the Toshakhana criminal case admissible.

Chairman PTI has requested to annul the decision of the trial court and Barrister Gohar has filed a petition on behalf of Chairman PTI in the Islamabad High Court.

In the petition filed by Chairman PTI, it has been demanded that the decision of Additional Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar on July 8 in the Toshakhana criminal case should be annulled.
