Punjab police arrests suspects involved in killing of people in mosque

LAHORE: Inspector General (IG) Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar has said that the suspects who opened fire in the Sialkot mosque were arrested within 24 hours.

While addressing a press conference in Lahore, IG Punjab said that the evidence obtained from the crime scene is proving that outside hand is involved in the incident and  this terrorism was planned in another country.

Earlier, a prayer leader, a religious activist belonging to an outlawed outfit, and his security guard were killed in what is believed to be a targeted attack on a Daska mosque during Fajr prayers.

He said that the accused were traced and arrested within 24 hours. He further said the terrorists and their facilitators will be exposed in front of the world.

IG further said “Accused of Sialkot tragedy will be presented in the courts, our message to the enemy countries is that you should use dirty tactics, we will expose you and also bring the facilitators of terrorists to the world”.

ECP directs CS to withdraw security, perks from ex-ministers

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has directed Chief Secretary Sindh to immediately withdraw protocol, security, and privileges from the former members of the provincial cabinet and officials.

Secretary Election Commission Umar Hameed Khan wrote a letter to Chief Secretary Sindh and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh for violating the guidelines of the Election Commission.

The letter said that it has come to the notice of the Election Commission that former provincial ministers and political appointees are using protocol, security, and other privileges. The ECP had directed to take back official residences and official vehicles.

The letter directed that the protocol, security, and privileges of former cabinet members be withdrawn immediately.

KPO Attack: Another injured dies during treatment in hospital

KARACHI: Another injured of Karachi Police Office (KPO) attack succumbed to his injuries in hospital increasing the death toll in terrorist attack to five.

The Spokesman of the Special Security Unit(SSU) said that Abdul Latif, a security division official who was martyred, belonged to Security-I.

The constable Abdul Latif, who sustained serious injuries in the attack, breathed his last in hospital today. Martyred policeman was the fifth victim of the attack on police office.

It should be noted that five people including police and Rangers personnel have been martyred in the terrorist incident.

Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon has formed a five-member inquiry committee to inquire into the terrorism incident.

According to the notification issued in this regard, DIG Sindh Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Zulfiqar Larik will head the five-member probe team.
