Vaccine Registration For 19 Years & Above To Begin Tomorrow: Asad Umar

Vaccination drive for people above 19 years

Pakistan will start a COVID-19 vaccine registration for people aged 19 years and above from tomorrow, according to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar in his tweet informed that the vaccine registration for people above 19 years will begin from May 27 (Thursday) and the registration is now open.

“In today’s NCOC meeting we decided to open up vaccination registration for all 19 years and above. This registration will start from tomorrow. So now registration will be open for the entire national population which is approved by health experts for covid vaccination,” he wrote.

How To Register Yourself?

  1. Text your CNIC number to 1166 or
  2. Log onto nims.nadra.gov.pk for online registration

Earlier, the NCOC had asked citizens between the ages of 30 and 40 to register for the COVID-19 vaccine jab.

“Register yourself by sending CNIC to 1166. On receiving SMS, visit the mentioned Vaccination centre on the given date (or afterwards) and get vaccinated!” NCOC said in a Tweet.

Pakistan COVID-19 Update

65 more people have died in the country from Coronavirus and more than 2,700 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours.

According to the statistics website (covid.gov.pk) in Pakistan, 59076 COVID-19 tests were conducted across the country in the last 24 hours out of which 2724 people tested positive for coronavirus while 65 people succumbed to the virus.

According to the official portal, the rate of positive cases of coronavirus in the country during the last 24 hours was 4.6%.

The rate of positive cases in the country during the last 24 hours is the lowest reported in the last 10 weeks.

Bahrain Suspends Entry of Travellers From Pakistan, Other 4 Countries

Bahrain suspends flights from Pakistan

The Civil Aviation Affairs of Bahrain has imposed a travel ban on Pakistan and other countries including India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal owing to the sharp rise in COVID-19 cases.

According to media reports, Bahrain will suspend the entry of travellers from countries on its ‘red list’, which includes India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal, from May, 24.

Bahraini citizens and residency visa holders are not covered by the suspension, but will have to provide a PCR test before boarding a plane and quarantine for 10 days upon arrival, reports added.

A precautionary 10-day quarantine is mandatory for all travellers. They will either isolate themselves at their houses or the government authorities centres.

On the other hand, Canada, Malaysia, United Kingdom, and UAE banned flights from Pakistan after coronavirus cases in the country soared.

Earlier, the British government had imposed a travel ban on Pakistan due to the growing number of coronavirus cases in the country.

After which, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) put on hold the request of British Airways for more flights. British Airways had sought permission for 10 more flights to Pakistan.

Civil aviation took more precautionary measures on SOPs and did not allow any more flights of the British airline.

Sources said that the request of British Airways for more flights was put on hold, British Airways had sought permission for 10 more flights to Pakistan, 7 flights from the UK to Islamabad and 3 flights from the UK to Lahore.

Markets To Shut At 6 PM As Sindh Extends COVID Restrictions For More 2 weeks

Sindh government has decided to extend COVID restrictions in the province for another 14 days owing to the sharp rise in Coronavirus cases.

On Saturday (today), a meeting of the COVID Task Force headed by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took place which has decided that the shops will remain open until 6:00 pm.

The meeting also decided to extend COVID limitations with the imposition of a ban on tourist spots including Seaview, Hawks Bay and other amusement parks.

The shops and departmental stores across the province would remain open until 6:00 pm with adherence to full COVID-related SOPs.

The intercity transport will continue in the province with 50% passengers.

The decision to reopen schools will only be made after improvement in the virus situation. However, the meeting has also directed Education Minister Saeed Ghani to ensure a speedy vaccination of teachers.

The task force further decided that marriage halls would remain shut amidst the virus spike across Sindh.

Pakistan: Public Transport Resumes Today As COVID Cases Decrease

Amidst the decreasing number of Coronavirus cases across Pakistan, the government resumes all public transport between provinces and within cities from May 16 (Sunday) instead of May 17.

However, the transport will be operative with 50% occupancy of passengers.

In a meeting on Saturday, the National Command and Ope­ra­tion Centre (NCOC) has deci­ded to continue running public transport from Sunday.

The meeting chaired by the NCOC Chief Asad Umar took place to review the implementation of standard operating procedures throughout the “stay home, stay safe” May 8-16 period.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan also joined the meeting via video link.

According to a statement by the NCOC, the forum “expressed satisfaction on compliance” of SOPs during Eid holidays.

On the other hand, all markets and shops will remain open till 8 pm from May 17 (Monday).

However, the following decisions were announced after the meeting.

  1. All inter-provincial, inter-city and intra-city public transport to resume from May 16 instead of previously given date of May 17. The transport will, however, be operative with 50% occupancy of passengers.
  2. Railways will maintain its operation with 70% occupancy.
  3. All markets and shops will remain open till 8pm from May 17 onwards.
  4. Normal working hours for offices will be resumed from May 17 onwards with the condition of 50% work from home.

According to the statement, a review of the remaining guidelines will be carried out on May 19.

Pakistan To Ban inter-provincial transport on weekends from April 10-25

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has on Sunday issued new guidelines to curb the spread of the sharp spike in COVID-19 cases amidst the third wave of the deadly virus.

The NCOC has announced to suspend inter-provincial transport for two days a week (Saturday and Sunday).

It has limited inter-provincial public transport only on weekends. However, cargo trucks, containers, medical and emergency services will be spared from the limitations.

The new decision will come into effect from April 10th until April 25th. Pakistan Railways will continue to run passenger trains seven days a week with 70% occupancy, added NCOC.

Moreover, the NCOC has directed the administrations of the Masajid and the Imambargahs to hold Taraweeh prayer in the yards during the month of Ramadan.

It further said that if during Ramadan, the government feels that these precautionary measures are not being observed or the number of affectees has risen to a dangerous level then the government will revise its policy.

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has on Monday (today) planned to tighten Coronavirus related restrictions to curb the spread of the deadly pandemic.

The NCOC meeting took place today under the chairmanship of Minister for Planning Asad Umar in which the ongoing dangerous situation of the novel Coronavirus came under discussion.

People would be only allowed to travel in case of emergency however markets across Pakistan would be completely closed on Saturday and Sunday, said NCOC.

The NCOC has also announced strict restrictions in cities with a positive coronavirus rate of more than 8%, which will be applied till April 11.

“A strict restriction has been implemented at all indoor activities across the country. Whereas, only take-aways will be allowed at the outdoor dining till 10 PM.”

The NCOC further added that all kinds of trading services and business will shut by 8 PM and a strict lockdown will be imposed with all possible standard operating procedures (SOPs) following the third COVID-19 strain.

Gatherings of more than 300 people will be allowed only under stringent SOPs implementation, added NCOC.

Earlier in the day, Minister for Planning Asad Umar said the decision regarding strict restrictions across the country will help fight the sharp spike in the novel Coronavirus.

The Minister said the provinces and Islamabad Administration have been directed to launch a crackdown on the violations of SOPs.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said that there were 2,969 COVID-19 patients in Pakistan who needed oxygen and 546 who were on ventilators on June 20.

Posting a tweet on Saturday, the federal minister said the numbers have decreased by the grace of Almighty as 1,762 patients needed oxygen and 394 were on ventilators yesterday which means reduction by 28 percent.

He said, “The success of smart lockdown, administrative actions concerning standard operating procedures (SOPs) and most important of all, better conduct by people is prominent.”

“The significant thing here is that stopping the spread of coronavirus is in our collective control. If we continue to take precautions, our health as well as employments will remain protected. Otherwise, God forbid, we may also face situations like America, Brazil and India.”

Moreover, Asad Umar will be presiding over an important meeting to discuss Karachi’s electricity woes on Saturday (today) at the Sindh Governor House.
