The ongoing deadly Coronavirus pandemic has claimed four more lives across Pakistan during the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 6,393.

According to the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 665 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Pakistan.

However, the number of confirmed cases in the country spiked up to 303,089.

As many as 290,760 Covid-19 patients have recuperated from the disease, pushing the number of active cases down to 5,936. 29,097 samples were tested during the previous 24 hours, out of which 539 turned out to be positive.

Thus far, more than 3 million tests have been conducted across the country.

India’s cases surpass five million mark

According to the current update, India’s coronavirus cases surged past 5 million on Wednesday with a single-day jump of 90,123 infections in the last 24 hours.

India is only the second country in the world to cross the grim milestone of 5 million cumulative cases, after the United States.

The death toll from COVID-19 is now at 82,066, the ministry said, with 1290 fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours.

The novel Coronavirus has claimed four more lives across the country during the last 24 hours. The death toll, however, has surged to 6,383.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 539 more people tested positive for the infection during this period, bringing the number of confirmed cases in the country to 302,020.

As many as 289,806 Covid-19 patients have recuperated from the disease, pushing the number of active cases down to 5,831. 28,823 samples were tested during the previous 24 hours, out of which 539 turned out to be positive.

Thus far, more than 2.9 million tests have been conducted across the country.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said that there were 2,969 COVID-19 patients in Pakistan who needed oxygen and 546 who were on ventilators on June 20.

Posting a tweet on Saturday, the federal minister said the numbers have decreased by the grace of Almighty as 1,762 patients needed oxygen and 394 were on ventilators yesterday which means reduction by 28 percent.

He said, “The success of smart lockdown, administrative actions concerning standard operating procedures (SOPs) and most important of all, better conduct by people is prominent.”

“The significant thing here is that stopping the spread of coronavirus is in our collective control. If we continue to take precautions, our health as well as employments will remain protected. Otherwise, God forbid, we may also face situations like America, Brazil and India.”

Moreover, Asad Umar will be presiding over an important meeting to discuss Karachi’s electricity woes on Saturday (today) at the Sindh Governor House.

Members of National Assembly, Sindh Assembly and Karachi Electric (KE) representatives will also attend the meeting.

The industrialists and SSGC’s representatives are also invited to attend the meeting.

However, the meeting has been called on on the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
