“Govt’s measures during COVID’s Third Wave are proving effective”: Asad Umar

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) chief Asad Umar has on Wednesday said that the government, as well as the masses, had done a laudable job in following coronavirus SOPs, which resulted in the fall of Coronavirus cases.

While addressing a press conference today, Asad Umar announced that 1,00,00,000 people in Pakistan have been vaccinated against coronavirus so far.

“The government’s decisions to curb the virus were proving effective during the third wave of the pandemic,” he said.

“The more quickly we get ourselves vaccinated, the faster we will be able to rid ourselves of this menace,” Umar said.

The NCOC Chief further requested people to get themselves vaccinated so that business could reopen and life could return to its normal state in Pakistan.

“We have seen that when Pakistanis, as a nation, decide to do something, then they do it,” he added.

The federal minister said that while it was an impressive achievement, the government wanted to vaccinate 7,00,00,000 people against the vaccine by the end of the year.

The NCOC chief said Pakistan was vaccinating an estimated 300,000 people on a daily basis against the coronavirus, adding that more than 300,000 were registering for the vaccine on a daily basis.

Earlier, the minister had taken to Twitter to announce that Pakistan will be vaccinating over 1,00,00,000 people against the virus.

Pakistan Began Immunization Of People Aged 18 Years And Above

Pakistan had begun inocula­tion against the deadly COVID-19 of people aged 18 years and above. 

A few days earlier, the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) had decided to install separate COVID vaccination centres for the teachers and educational staff.

In order to expedite the teachers with immediate vaccination facility, NCOC has decided the establishment of separate COVID vaccination centres amidst the ongoing third Coronavirus wave.

According to sources, new centres would be established countrywide at the tehsil level, while separate counters would be reserved for the teachers.

The body has directed to complete vaccination of the teachers by June 5, said sources.

Pakistan Begins immunization Of People Aged 18 Years And Above From Today

Pakistan has on Thursday (today) begins inocula­tion against the deadly COVID-19 of people aged 18 years and above. 

A few days earlier, the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) had decided to install separate COVID vaccination centres for the teachers and educational staff.

In order to expedite the teachers with immediate vaccination facility, NCOC has decided the establishment of separate COVID vaccination centres amidst the ongoing third Coronavirus wave.

According to sources, new centres would be established countrywide at the tehsil level, while separate counters would be reserved for the teachers.

Earlier, the NCOC had decided to open walk-in vaccinations for people over the age of 30.

According to details, in a tweet message on the social networking website, Federal Minister for Planning Asad Omar apprised about the walk-in vaccination.

The Minister wrote, “in the NCOC meeting today it was decided to open up walk-in vaccination for 30 plus from tomorrow. So if you are 30 or older and registered please go to any vaccination centre and get vaccinated.”

Vaccine Registration For 19 Years & Above To Begin Tomorrow: Asad Umar

Vaccination drive for people above 19 years

Pakistan will start a COVID-19 vaccine registration for people aged 19 years and above from tomorrow, according to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar in his tweet informed that the vaccine registration for people above 19 years will begin from May 27 (Thursday) and the registration is now open.

“In today’s NCOC meeting we decided to open up vaccination registration for all 19 years and above. This registration will start from tomorrow. So now registration will be open for the entire national population which is approved by health experts for covid vaccination,” he wrote.

How To Register Yourself?

  1. Text your CNIC number to 1166 or
  2. Log onto nims.nadra.gov.pk for online registration

Earlier, the NCOC had asked citizens between the ages of 30 and 40 to register for the COVID-19 vaccine jab.

“Register yourself by sending CNIC to 1166. On receiving SMS, visit the mentioned Vaccination centre on the given date (or afterwards) and get vaccinated!” NCOC said in a Tweet.

Pakistan COVID-19 Update

65 more people have died in the country from Coronavirus and more than 2,700 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours.

According to the statistics website (covid.gov.pk) in Pakistan, 59076 COVID-19 tests were conducted across the country in the last 24 hours out of which 2724 people tested positive for coronavirus while 65 people succumbed to the virus.

According to the official portal, the rate of positive cases of coronavirus in the country during the last 24 hours was 4.6%.

The rate of positive cases in the country during the last 24 hours is the lowest reported in the last 10 weeks.
