ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has decided to freeze the bank accounts of 72 wanted proclaimed offenders (POs)

According to the details, the FIA has decided to freeze the bank accounts of 72 wanted advertisers. The sources said public servants are also included in the list of wanted accused.

Sources said that action has also been taken against the proclaimed offenders suspects under the Anti-Money Laundering Act.

A letter has been sent to the Anti-Money Laundering Cell recommending the blacklisting of accused proclaimed offenders and the Anti-Corruption Cell has sought a list of POs involved in money laundering cases.

Tarar for planting maximum trees to combat future climate challenges

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage and Culture, Attaullah Tarar, emphasized to address the looming challenge of climate change highlighting the critical need to plant a significant number of trees for the sake of future generations.

During a ceremony held by the Capital Development Authority at Margalla Hills, in his address, Tarar highlighted the commitment of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Pakistani government to maintain  Islamabad’s environment by promoting extensive tree plantation. He praised Islamabad as one of the nation’s most beautiful cities, with Margalla National Park serving as a prized asset.

Tarar underscored that Islamabad enjoys superior air quality compared to other cities, asserting that planting more trees would further enhance the environment.

He lamented that while Pakistan contributes only 2% of global carbon emissions, it bears 90% of the adverse effects of climate change.

Calling for international cooperation, Tarar urged countries with high carbon emissions to collaborate with Pakistan in combating climate change impacts.

He encouraged Islamabad residents to actively participate in the plantation drive, announcing the launch of an application enabling them to monitor the growth of trees they plant.

Emphasizing the crucial link between humanity’s survival and extensive tree plantation, Tarar appealed to electronic media channels to allocate prime-time air slots for discussions on combating climate change. He called upon the Pakistan Broadcasters Association to host special segments in talk shows to raise public awareness about the significance of tree plantation.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said that misinformation, disinformation, and fake news were problems of the entire world which had to be controlled.

During a meeting with the Political Counselor of the British High Commission Miss Zoe Ware, the minister said the biggest challenge on social media was fake news and the government was dealing with this problem.

In the meeting, relations between the two countries, and the promotion of cooperation in the fields of media were discussed in detail. Cooperation in the fields of film and drama was also discussed.

Attaullah Tarar said that journalists should adopt the process of verification on social media and the whole world should develop a code of conduct related to social media.

Miss Zoe Ware congratulated the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz(PML-N) on forming the government and Attaullah Tarar on assuming charge as Minister of Information and Broadcasting.
