Aseefa Bhutto highlights positive role of women in Pakistan

DUBAI: First Lady and Member of National Assembly Aseefa Bhutto Zardari said that women should believe in themselves and stand firm in their values.

First Lady and MNA Aseefa Bhutto Zardari participated in the Global Women’s Forum in Dubai and highlighted the positive role of women in Pakistan.

Addressing the Global Women’s Forum, Aseefa Bhutto said in her message that young women should believe in themselves and stand firm in their values and never underestimate the power of their voice.

The Member of Parliament held a bilateral meeting with Her Excellency Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and Member of Dubai Council.

President Asif Ali Zardari’s daughter and member of the National Assembly shared a video of her meeting with the Emirati Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Dubai and also wrote that it was an honor to meet Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Earlier, Member of National Assembly Aseefa Bhutto Zardari has attended the Global Women’s Forum, being held in Dubai.

The forum was organized by Dubai Women’s Establishment. The inaugural session of the forum was attended by the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE HH Sheikh Mohammed, First Lady of Turkiye Emine Erdogan, and louise Araneta Marcos, First Lady of the Philippines.

The event attracted approximately 6,000 dignitaries and advocates for women’s empowerment and gender balance.

Aseefa Bhutto also participated in the panel discussion, highlighting the positive contributions of women in Pakistan.

Aseefa Bhutto pledges to lead fight TB in country

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Aseefa Bhutto Zardari has reaffirmed her commitment to combating Tuberculosis (TB) in Pakistan and on the global stage.

In a high-level meeting with the leadership of the Dopasi Foundation and a delegation of parliamentarians, led by Dr. Shazia Sobia Aslam Soomro, the discussion centered on addressing Pakistan’s TB burden and identifying solutions for closing persistent gaps in TB care, especially for underprivileged communities.

Parliamentarians in attendance included Dr Mehreen Bhutto, Sehar Kamran, Khursheed Junejo, and Musarat Rafique prominent voices in the fight against TB.

The meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on Pakistan’s progress since the United Nations High-Level Meeting on TB in 2023, while exploring new strategies to tackle ongoing challenges in TB notification and treatment.

In a landmark commitment, Assefa Bhutto Zardari announced her role as a champion for TB advocacy, pledging to lead national and international efforts.

“I am proud to lend my voice to the fight against TB. The fight against Tuberculosis is not just a health issue, but a matter of dignity and justice for the millions affected by this preventable disease. Together, we can create a future where no one is left behind, and every individual has access to the care and support they deserve,” she said.

During the meeting, she was briefed on the upcoming Regional Leaders’ Summit 2024 on TB and Climate Change and the TB Survivors event, where she graciously accepted the role of chair for the Survivors Event.

She vowed to advocate for the rights of TB survivors and push for equitable access to quality healthcare across all provinces.

She also praised the work of the End TB Parliamentary Caucus, led by Dr. Shazia Sobia Aslam Soomro, which is hosted by Dopasi Foundation in partnership with the Stop TB Partnership.

The initiative promotes cross-provincial collaboration to strengthen TB advocacy.

President Raisi arrives in Karachi on third leg of official visit

KARACHI: President of Iran Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi along with his delegation arrived in Karachi on the third leg of his three-day official visit to Pakistan.

Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah, Governor Kamran Tessori and others welcomed the Iranian president and other members of the visiting delegation at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.

President Asif Ali Zardari’s daughter, First Lady Aseefa Bhutto, was also present at the airport to welcome the visiting dignitaries.

Strict security arrangements were made at the airport and its surrounding areas to avoid any untoward incident.

Later, Iranian President Raisi visited Quaid’s mausoleum and paid his respects to the founder of Pakistan.

The Iranian president will also meet the provincial cabinet. In recognition of his services the University of Karachi will confer an honorary PhD degree on the Iranian president.

Aseefa Bhutto becomes first lady of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Faisal Karim Kundi, spokesperson of the Pakistan People’s Party(PPP) confirmed that Aseefa Bhutto will become the first lady.

Faisal Karim Kundi said in his statement that President Asif Zardari will make an official announcement regarding Aseefa Bhutto’s first lady and Asifa Bhutto will be the first lady who is the daughter of the President.

It should be noted that the statements of the Pakistan People’s Party and Bakhtawar Bhutto on social media made people curious.

A photo with President Asif Zardari and Aseefa Bhutto was shared from the party account and captioned with First Lady President.

Bakhtawar Bhutto later shared the same photo and wrote: From court hearings with President Asif Zardari to his fight to be released from prison, now as the First Lady of Pakistan, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari by his side.

Earlier, President Asif Ali Zardari had decided to make his daughter Aseefa Bhutto Zardari the first lady.
