Iranian President Raisi leaves after 3-day Pakistan visit

KARACHI: President of Iran Dr Ebrahim Raisi has left for Tehran along with his delegation after completing three-day visit to Pakistan early on Wednesday morning.

Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah saw off the distinguished guest at Karachi Airport early morning.

During his three-day visit, the Iranian President held meetings with the President, Prime Minister, Chief of the Army Staff, Chairman Senate, Speaker of the National Assembly, and the chief ministers and governors of Sindh and Punjab.

Earlier, Iranian President, along with his spouse Dr Jamileh Alamolhoda and a high level delegation arrived the provincial capital and visited mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Dr Raisi also held meetings at CM House and addressed a ceremony attended by prominent personalities belonging to all walks of life including Ulema, leading businessmen, provincial ministers and the parliament members.

The Iranian President was also conferred with an honorary degree by Governor Sindh who is also Chancellor of Karachi University.

President Raisi arrives in Karachi on third leg of official visit

KARACHI: President of Iran Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi along with his delegation arrived in Karachi on the third leg of his three-day official visit to Pakistan.

Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah, Governor Kamran Tessori and others welcomed the Iranian president and other members of the visiting delegation at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.

President Asif Ali Zardari’s daughter, First Lady Aseefa Bhutto, was also present at the airport to welcome the visiting dignitaries.

Strict security arrangements were made at the airport and its surrounding areas to avoid any untoward incident.

Later, Iranian President Raisi visited Quaid’s mausoleum and paid his respects to the founder of Pakistan.

The Iranian president will also meet the provincial cabinet. In recognition of his services the University of Karachi will confer an honorary PhD degree on the Iranian president.

LAHORE: President of Iran Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi reached Lahore on the second leg of his three-day official visit to Pakistan.

President Raisi was received warmly by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif who presented a bouquet to the distinguished dignitary upon arrival at the Lahore Airport.

Senior Provincial Minister Murriyum Aurangzeb besides Provincial Ministers Azma Bokhari, Bilal Yasin and Khawaja Salman Rafique were also present at the reception.

Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhter Zaman, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Usman Anwer and Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa accompanied the chief minister.

President Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi accompanied by his spouse and a high-level delegation comprising ministers and businessmen is on a three-day official visit to Pakistan.

The dignitary is scheduled to spend a busy day in the provincial metropolis.

Later, Iranian President Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi paid a visit to the mausoleum of Poet of the East Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal during his visit to the historic city of Lahore.

President Raisi laid a floral wreath at the grave of the great poet and philosopher, and offered Fateha.

A smartly turned out contingent of the Rangers presented guard of honour to the distinguished dignitary.

Recording impressions in the visitor’s book at Iqbal’s mausoleum, Dr Raisi hailed Dr Muhammad Iqbal as a common chapter in the deep and historic bilateral relations between Iran and Pakistan.

“Islamic Republic of Iran’s supreme leader termed Allama Iqbal as the ‘Brightest Star of the East’ and I am pleased to pay my respects at the mausoleum of a Muslim scholar and standard-bearer of unity among the Muslim Ummah. I salute the spirit of this great person,” the Iranian President wrote.
