  • He recognized that Akshay would attract a larger audience.
  • He decided to step aside from the film.

Jolly LLB featuring Arshad Warsi won fans over with its humor, engaging plot, and strong performances. The sequel, Jolly LLB 2, featured Akshay Kumar as the lead.

Recently, Arshad shared that he wasn’t a fan of the script for the sequel and recognized that Akshay would attract a larger audience, so he was fine stepping aside. He mentioned that a version of Jolly LLB with both of them would be funny and exciting, including a fight scene between the actors.

In an interview with Mashable India, Arshad was asked if he felt bad about not being in Jolly LLB 2. He replied, “I wasn’t all happy with the script, but I would have done it because it was Subhash, and he is the director and dear friend.” However, the producer wanted Akshay for the role, and Arshad texted the director to suggest that Akshay could draw a bigger crowd. He stated, “With me, you would get a crowd of 500 people. With him, you will get a crowd of 5000 people.”

Now, Arshad and Akshay are reuniting for Jolly LLB 3. Arshad explained that audiences will enjoy seeing them together again, as he will continue his character from the first film while Akshay reprises his role from the sequel.

He praised Akshay’s work ethic, noting they filmed a complex fight scene in just one take. Arshad said, “What we’ve done is insane… It’s a long fight sequence, which probably would take somebody a day to finish.” He expressed excitement for the film, believing it has all the elements fans expect from the Jolly LLB franchise. The film finished shooting in July 2024 and is set to release in April 2025.

Arshad Warsi Joins Akshay Kumar And Sanjay Dutt In ‘Welcome 3

Arshad Warsi

Arshad Warsi has joined the star-studded cast of Welcome 3, featuring Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt, in an incredibly exciting movie.

In discussing the film, Warsi revealed that Welcome 3 would be a grand and extravagant theatrical experience. He shared details about the impressive ensemble, confirming the participation of Dutt, Kumar, and Paresh Rawal.

“The scale of Welcome 3: the cost, the climax, is unreal. It is an insanely larger than life theatrical film in which I will be a part. It features me, Akshay Kumar, Sanju (Sanjay Dutt), Paresh Rawal, and many other talented individuals,” said the Munna Bhai MBBS actor.

Addressing his reduced on-screen presence, Warsi, aged 55, attributed it to the changing landscape of Indian cinema. He remarked that most films nowadays revolve around superhero themes, which he finds to be a rather peculiar concept.

“The whole scenario in cinema has changed. Nowadays, all the movies hitting the theaters are superhero films. They are huge, larger than life—it’s bizarre,” he shared with Hindustan Times.

Warsi expressed that he sees himself differently in this new cinematic landscape. While he has received offers for roles in such big films, he is not inclined towards playing smaller parts in these grand productions. Instead, he values job satisfaction above all else. The movie he has chosen to be a part of is Welcome 3.

Arshad Warsi Reflects On First Meeting With Jaya Bachchan

Arshad Warsi

Arshad Warsi recently recounted his initial encounter with the iconic Jaya Bachchan, sharing details of their first meeting.

During an interview, Arshad disclosed that their paths crossed for his debut film, and he was filled with immense nervousness.

According to Arshad, director Joy Augustine approached him for a film being produced by Amitabh Bachchan’s production company. The director requested Arshad to send his pictures for consideration.

Apprehensive about his acting abilities, Arshad candidly expressed his concerns to the director, stating, “Dude, I can’t act, don’t do this to me! You see people who come here to do a film and they don’t make it, and everyone knows that!” He did not want to become the unfortunate example of someone who failed in pursuing their dreams.

Shortly thereafter, Arshad received a call from Jaya Bachchan, requesting a meeting with him. Uncertain of what to expect, Arshad anticipated being reprimanded. He humorously reflected, “I thought she is going to fire me! I thought, ‘Hmm, Jaya Bachchan, let’s get fired by her, why not? She’s Amitabh Bachchan’s wife! Her scolding will be enjoyable, it will be a story in my life.'”

Approaching the meeting with a sense of trepidation, Arshad was taken aback when Jaya Bachchan inquired about his proficiency in speaking Hindi. Nervously, he responded affirmatively in English. To his surprise, she then declared, “You are doing the film.” Overwhelmed by the news, Arshad humorously remarked, “I died! I said, ‘Now it’s over.'”

Arshad Warsi also shared that he asked Jaya Bachchan what led her to choose him for the film. She replied, revealing that among the 36 pictures he had sent, each one portrayed different expressions.

Is Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi’s next film ‘Jail’ going to be similar to ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’?

Is Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi's next film 'Jail' going to be similar to 'Munna Bhai MBBS'?

Jail, the forthcoming film starring Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi, will be similar to Munna Bhai MBBS.

Arshad told Mid-Day that “Jail is Munna Bhai-ish in terms of story and content.” At its foundation, the film has heart and a wonderful message. The scripting is being done by Siddhant, who is also writing it.”

The Dhamaal actor further revealed that character development for Jail is taking time because the filmmakers must first remove Munna and Circuit from the thoughts of the audience.

“The difficulty is in Sanju and my characters. When Sanju and I are together, the audience’s minds must be cleared of Munna-Circuit first.”

“That’s why [character development] is turning out to be a time-consuming process.” “If a scene in Jail reminds us too much of Munna and Circuit, we’ll have to rewrite it,” Arshad explained.

The initial poster released by the producers depicted the two titans standing behind bars and dressed in jail garb. The script is currently being written for the film.

According to the sources Sanjay Dutt is producing new film Jail.

Arshad portrayed Sarkeshwar “Circuit” Sharma, the sidekick of Sanjay Dutt’s Murliprasad Sharma, popularly known as Munna Bhai, in their popular 2003 movie Munna Bhai MBBS. For playing Circuit, Arshad received the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. He then played Circuit again in the 2006 movie Lage Raho Munna Bhai. Sanjay and Arshad have collaborated on movies other than the Munna Bhai series, including the 2007 comedy-drama Dhamaal.

Fans shared their excitement about the movie in the comments section of Sanjay Dutt’s post as soon as he revealed it. They showered the Munna Bhai couple with affection and praise. “Munna Bhai (Sanjay Dutt) aur Circuit (Arshad Warsi) ek sath (together again),” was one of the comments. A different supporter wrote, “This duo (tear emoji).” One fan questioned why the two had not announced the release of a new Munna Bhai movie. Why isn’t this a Munna Bhai movie? he said in his note. But one admirer was sure the upcoming movie starring Sanjay and Arshad would be fantastic, saying, “It’s going to be the best movie of all time.”

Arshad Warsi claimed in an interview from the previous year that Sanjay Dutt was the sole reason he agreed to play the Circuit in Munna Bhai MBBS. “I did Munna Bhai because it was Sanju (Sanjay Dutt), else even Raju (filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani) understands that it is it is a dumb character,” Arshad had told Indian Express in March 2022. On paper, it really was nothing. Circuit has received opposition from Makarand Deshpande as well!
