Romanian court rejects Andrew Tate’s bail application

Andrew Tate
  • Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan have been detained.
  • Judges have disagreed, citing the anticipated risk of Mr. Tate escaping the country.
  • The request for bail in lieu of custody was fresh, but the court’s decision was the same.

Andrew Tate‘s latest bail application was rejected by a Romanian court.

Since December, the notorious British social media star and his brother Tristan have been detained.

They are being probed on rape, people trafficking, and establishing organized crime group allegations. Both men have denied any misconduct.

The ruling was “disappointing,” according to Mr. Tate’s spokesman, and his legal team plans to appeal.

Mr. Tate’s lawyers have long contended that putting him in preventative detention is needlessly harsh, especially when alternative legal options, such as home arrest, are available.

Anticipation

So far, judges have disagreed, citing the anticipated risk of Mr. Tate escaping the country, influencing witnesses or evidence, or disrupting public order if he is released.

The request for bail in lieu of custody was fresh, but the court’s decision was the same.

Mr. Tate was ordered to remain in detention until March 29 by the court in late February.

Mr. Tate’s brother Tristan will also seek for bail in a separate hearing on Wednesday.

An appeals court this month invalidated all but one of the reasons for Tristan Tate’s imprisonment.

There have been no charges filed against the brothers or their two Romanian colleagues who were arrested alongside them.

Mr. Tate, a former kickboxer, was kicked from the British TV show Big Brother in 2016 after a video surfaced showing him allegedly assaulting a woman.

He went on to become well-known online, with Twitter banning him for claiming that women should “carry responsibility” for sexual assault. He was later reinstated.

Despite social media bans, he rose to prominence, particularly among young males, by preaching a hyper-masculine, ultra-luxurious lifestyle.

Andrew Tate has threatened to sue his accuser

Andrew Tate
  • Andrew Tate has threatened legal action against at least one of the women who have accused him of rape and human trafficking.
  • The letter threatened the woman and her parents with a $300 million lawsuit.
  • The Tates’ lawyer stated that they were pursuing viable slander allegations.

Andrew Tate, a controversial influencer, has threatened legal action against at least one of the women who have accused him of rape and human trafficking.

According to the woman’s lawyers in the United States, a “cease-and-desist” letter was sent in December by a US law firm on behalf of Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan.

The letter threatened the woman and her parents with a $300 million (£249 million) lawsuit if she did not retract her claims.

The Tates’ lawyer stated that they were pursuing viable slander allegations.

The sources have seen a redacted copy of the letter, which was presumably sent on the brothers’ behalf.

“In April 2022,” it reads, “you falsely stated to a third party that our Client human trafficked you, abused you and held you against your will […] You have repeated false and defamatory statements to the police, the media, and another United States citizen about the Tate brothers.”

Andrew and Tristan Tate are currently being held in Romania in preventative detention as police investigate claims of human trafficking and rape, which both men deny.

Benjamin Bull – who works for the National Centre on Sexual Exploitation – says his client is a key witness in the Romanian investigation, and that the letter was designed to do “one thing and one thing only”:

“[It] was intended to shut down the witness; stop the witness from bringing testimony forward in any proceedings,” he said.

“They want these young ladies to climb into a hole and hide, never come forward [or] describe what they saw and what happened to them. It’s clearly an effort to intimidate.”

Attorneys for the Tates confirmed to the BBC that the cease-and-desist letter was delivered in December, as part of a civil case in the United States for defamation and slander, but denied any intimidation.

Tina Glandian, one of their legal advisors, said there was nothing abnormal in them pursuing valid legal claims for defamation. “The fact that [the Tates] are incarcerated right now is not a basis for them not to pursue their legal rights,” she said.

The inquiry into rape and human trafficking claims is thought to be based in part on the testimony of six women. No charges have yet been filed.

According to the Tates’ legal team, the brothers filed criminal accusations in Romania last April against two women, including the witness.

Ms Glandian stated that the criminal complaints were filed in April in response to suspicions that the Tate brothers were holding two women against their will.

“There was no evidence whatsoever of that,” she said, “which is why [the Tates] was not arrested in April. [At that time], they were nothing but victims of false allegations, and they had every right to file criminal complaints for having their homes raided [and] property seized.”

According to her, the outcomes of those criminal complaints are still pending.

Tina Glandian pictured speaking in front of a number of microphones. She is sitting with a wall behind her.

Benjamin Bull, who represents some of the witnesses in the ongoing Tate inquiry, said the legal action has been upsetting and threatening for his clients.

Nevertheless, Dani Pinter, a member of the same legal team, claims that it is not simply the possibility of legal action that is scary, but also the online harassment that many of her clients face as a result of speaking out.

“Regular, high production value videos, meant to embarrass and harass them, are shared among Tate’s followers,” she told me.

“Making really salacious claims, attempting to slut shame them, saying they’re liars. But included in that is their private information – where they work, who their family members are – with the clear intention to incite harassment. And it’s working.”

She claims that the two alleged victims she represents have received death threats.

“They’re scared to death. They’re both in hiding. They feel they can’t settle anywhere, because people are trying to find them.”

Prosecutors have taken great efforts to keep the identities of the six women in their case private. Nonetheless, some people’s full names have been released on social media.

The identities of two witnesses were even mentioned in a source’s statement from the Tates’ US relations staff. They are not being named publicly by the sources.

While in detention, Andrew Tate and his brother do not have access to their social media accounts, but they have amassed a large and devoted online following.

Several accounts appear to be fully-staffed operations, distributing videos and papers on a daily basis in order to undercut the testimonies of witnesses and other women bringing charges against the Tates.

One of the more active accounts tweeted the entire identity, social media handles, and WhatsApp chats of one of the accused victims in the probe earlier this week.

The sources has reached out to the account for comment but has yet to receive a response.

Even those who barely scratch the surface of this subject may become a target.

Daria Gusa told sources and others that when she was 16, she received a private message from Andrew Tate’s Instagram account. It followed the same structure as his online presentations on how to get a woman’s attention and influence her.

She did not accuse him of any wrongdoing.

“I got a bunch of messages,” she told me. “Most were from people saying I was lying or calling me a slut.”

But she also received “10 to 15 threats” online.

“I had a guy texting me, telling me ‘I know you’re studying at this university, the schedule is published online, I know where you are'” Daria said.

Several of her friends, who also appear to have had contact with him, have refused to speak out about their experiences, she says.

“It’s not just the people who work for him,” she explained. “It’s that there are basically millions of men out there who really idolise these people, and would do anything to protect them and their image, so I think it’s completely justifiable that so many girls don’t want to speak out.”

It is not clear exactly who runs some of the most active accounts defending the Tates, or how much cooperation exists between them.

But the risks for women making public allegations against Andrew Tate can be high, and they can come from many directions.

Andrew Tate loses appeal against detention

Andrew Tate
  • Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan have lost their appeal.
  • The brothers will stay in Bucharest Police’s custody until February 27.
  • Romanian police searched five homes and detained the brothers and two more suspects.

Andrew Tate, the controversial former kickboxer turned social media influencer, and his brother Tristan have lost their appeal and will remain in detention in Romania on allegations of human trafficking and rape

The brothers will stay in Bucharest Police’s custody until February 27, according to Antena 3. The judgment of the court is final.

On December 30, Romanian police searched five homes and detained the brothers and two more suspects.

They assert that the suspects created an organized criminal gang for the purpose of people trafficking that extended from Romania to Britain and the United States.

The authorities assert that two of the accused transported victims to Romania while deceiving them “into believing that they wanted to enter into a marriage/cohabitation relationship” before sexually abusing them through physical force and compulsion.

Authorities claim that one of the suspects sexually assaulted a victim twice in March 2022. The Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism in Romania claims that at least six victims were “sexually exploited by the organized criminal group” (DIICOT).

On January 25, after being taken in for interrogation and having their electronic equipment seized for examination, the brothers argued that they were innocent.

“There’s no evidence in my file because I’ve done nothing wrong. Everybody knows I’m innocent, ” Andrew Tate said. As he was led into DIICOT headquarters, he added: “There is no justice in Romania.”

Ioan Gliga, one of the Tate brothers’ lawyers, told reporters at the time: “We are convinced that the evidence is in favor of our clients, categorically not against them.”

Andrew Tate marked “every lady he owned” in a Romanian compound

The camgirls in Andrew Tate’s facility in Romania are allegedly marked with the logo “owned by Tate.”

According to a New York Post story, the women in issue apparently carried this branding throughout the entirety of their stay.

Videos made by the women working out of Romania showed the same tattoos as well. This occurs not long after the divisive person was the subject of recently emerged rape charges.

He has even been recorded making similar claims in conversations with publications like Barstool Sports.

He was reported as adding at the time, “It’s not about being property, it’s about she belongs to him,” and its “because they’re in a relationship.”

The same does not, in Tate’s opinion, apply to male equivalents since, in his opinion, “the woman belongs(s) to the man” and has “a stake in those pasts,” but not the reverse.

Tate’s name is even tattooed on the back of a model by the name of Sebastian Vieru in temporary ink.

Eugen Vidineac, Tate’s attorney, asserts that all of them “deny the allegations, and they want to cooperate with the prosecutors and to declare their innocence,” and also “deny any exploitation of women.”

More vehicles allegedly owned by Andrew Tate are seized

  • Four more high-end vehicles have been seized in connection with the investigation into Andrew Tate.
  • Seized cars are limited editions with a price tag of up to $300,000.
  • A few of the other vehicles are unregistered or undocumented.

According to Associates Press, four more high-end vehicles have been seized in connection with the investigation into Andrew Tate, who was detained in Romania last week on suspicion of rape and people trafficking.

In addition to the 11 vehicles seized in searches last week, prosecutors looking into the case seized four more vehicles on Thursday (Friday NZ time), according to Ramona Bolla, a spokeswoman for Romania’s anti-organized crime agency DIICOT.

According to Bolla, “they will be taken by the state and [will] cover the expense of the investigation and damages to the victims” if it is proven that they made money from human trafficking.

At least seven of the seized cars are registered to Tate and his brother Tristan Tate, who was also taken into custody last week in the same case. Local media reports that several of the seized cars are limited editions with a price tag of up to $300,000.

Some of the other vehicles are either unregistered or have no documentation.

Authorities claimed that more than 10 homes or land parcels held by businesses registered to the Tate brothers have been seized as of this point in the inquiry

Elon Musk unbans Kanye West, Andrew Tate’s Twitter accounts

Elon Musk

Elon Musk has added two more grounds of contention to the raging fire that has been Twitter since his takeover. Musk unbanned Kanye West (now Ye) and Andrew Tate’s Twitter accounts shortly after reinstating Donald Trump’s. “Testing… Testing… Seeing if my Twitter is unblocked” Kanye posted a tweet. Musk answer, “Don’t kill what ye hate… Save what ye love”. Tate, on the other side, wrote, “I’ve decided to fly to the failed state of California, walk into twitter HQ and tell @elonmusk he’s a legend. On my way.”

Kanye’s account was suspended in October after he tweeted about going “death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE.” Tate, who has been heavily chastised for his fiery and misogynistic Internet remarks, was banned from Twitter in 2017. Earlier this year, he was also banned from Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Jordan Peterson, Kathy Griffin, and Babylon Bee were among those whose Twitter accounts were restored.

Kanye West and Andrew Tate’s comeback, both of whom have experienced enormous flak in recent months, sparked outrage among Twitter users.

Meanwhile, Musk keeps tweeting memes.

Apex Legends: EA bans players named ‘Andrew Tate’

Apex Legends: EA bans players named ‘Andrew Tate’
  • Electronic Arts has suspended some accounts for using the name “Andrew Tate” in Apex Legends.
  • The former kickboxer is known as the “King of Toxic Masculinity”.
  • The name violates their guideline on positive play character.

According to reports, Electronic Arts (EA) has already suspended some accounts for using the name “Andrew Tate” in Apex Legends.

A Reddit user stated on September 2, 2022, that he was excluded from the Battle Royale because he named his persona after the influential British-American.

According to the notice from Electronic Arts, the name violates their guideline on positive play characters and adversely affects the game.

But it seems like other players with the same username have also been banned for a week.

Despite being blocked from all major social media sites, Andrew Tate, the newest star of Rumble, still seems to be popular online.

The former kickboxer, known as the “King of Toxic Masculinity,” has drawn criticism for his divisive opinions on a variety of delicate subjects.

Tate appears to have been taken down from Apex Legends as well since the game is tightening down on any mentions to the divisive internet personality.

It looks that violating their rules by utilizing his name in the game is the case.

According to the Reddit user, he was kicked out of the game for using the in-game alias “Andrew Tate.”

According to the notice from Electronic Arts, the name allegedly violates their guideline on positive play characters, and even if it was only meant as a joke, it still interferes with other players’ enjoyment of the game.

Notably, the crime falls under the policy infringement category of hateful conduct.

Players do appear to be receiving a week-long ban from Apex Legends for this reason, despite the fact that nothing has been formally announced yet.
