New Delhi: Flight departs ahead of schedule, Leaving 35 behind

New Delhi
  • The Singapore-bound flight took off leaving 35 passengers behind.
  • Airline officials claimed that the passengers had been notified of the change via email.
  • Passengers who were left behind protested at the airport.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in New Delhi has ordered an investigation into how a Singapore-bound flight took off hours ahead of schedule, leaving 35 passengers behind at the Amritsar airport.

The investigation was launched by the aviation regulatory authority after a Scoot Airline flight scheduled to depart from Amritsar Airport at 7.55 p.m. on Wednesday took off at 3 p.m., hours ahead of schedule.

This caused chaos at the airport, with angry passengers who were left behind protesting. They filed a complaint with the airport’s appropriate authorities.

When airport officials contacted airline officials, they were informed that the passengers had been notified of the change in flight time via e-mail.

“Around 280 passengers were to travel to Singapore but 253 passengers were rescheduled, leaving behind over 30 passengers,” Amritsar airport Directors told.
