Amitabh Bachchan wrote music for the first time for the movie Chup: Revenge of the Artist by R Balki. He has talked about how he did it. The actor said that he was the only one who played all the instruments in the piece and recorded it himself. He also wrote a note about how the song is about love that isn’t returned.

The actor had posted the note on both his Facebook page and his Tumblr blog. He also gave me a recording of his song being played at the end of the movie Chup. The credits said, “110 years of Indian cinema. 80 years of Amitabh Bachchan. Thank You Amit Ji… The title music at the end has been specially composed by Amitabh Bachchan.”

“A composition of ‘moi’ after an inspiring moment from film .. Each instrument played by ‘moi’ .. and recorded personally .. alone.”

He started, “To me it was the melody, that spoke…spoke of love…of unrequited love…love that is not openly reciprocated or understood…by beloved…beloved be not aware of admirer’s deep, pure affection, or consciously reject it…what then the melody – if it can be called that .. melodies that are singular strains of expression…but an expression of what…happiness or disillusionment it played for the maker.”

Amitabh Bachchan has told his fans why he wore harem pants on the set of Kaun Banega Crorepati, which made people laugh for months. Amitabh was asked about his style by a contestant, who then showed him a picture of him wearing harem pants before he started to talk.

Amitabh told the audience that one of the contestants, Vaishnavi, is a reporter. Vaishnavi then told Amitabh that she wanted to interview him. “There’s a story behind this. I was shooting in Rishikesh and spotted some men from the production team wearing these pants. As the wind blew, the pants would also flow and I liked them. They looked very comfortable, so I was like ‘humko bhi ye pajama chahiye (I want them for myself). Thoda ventilation ho jaata hai (It provides ventilation). I asked them and they told me they got it from the market. But when I sent a few people to the market, they could not get it.”

He added, “After a few days, the designer from the production team got it for me and sent it to me. Now the picture that you saw here, was shot on KBC set. I had come to the sets, not for KBC, but for rehearsals. I asked them if I had to wear suits like how I dress up for the shoot and they were like ‘it is a rehearsal, wear whatever you want’. I had just received those pyjamas so I wore them. And, I did not have a kurta, so just wore a shirt with it. That’s how this look happened, it was no fashion, but out of compulsion. This also had a red pocket, to keep keys.”
