South Indian Actor Nagarjuna Files Defamation Suit Against Telangana Minister

Nagarjuna took legal action against Konda Surekha.

She dragged the personal matter into a political debate.

Veteran South Indian actor Nagarjuna filed a lawsuit against Konda Surekha, the leader of the Telangana Congress, for her offensive remarks regarding his son Naga Chaitanya’s divorce from Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The Telangana minister’s comments incited outrage among the public by dragging the private issue into a political discussion.

Konda Surekha claimed that fellow politician KT Rama Rao (KTR) of the Bharatiya Rashtra Samiti (BRS) was the reason behind Samantha and Naga Chaitanya’s divorce, saying, “It is KT Rama Rao because of whom Samantha’s divorce happened. He used to tap the phones of actresses and find their weaknesses to blackmail them…Everyone knows this,” she claimed.

In defense of his ex-daughter-in-law, Nagarjuna filed criminal and civil defamation lawsuits, claiming the minister tarnished the Akkineni family’s reputation. On social media, Naga Chaitanya posted a scanned copy of his father’s lawsuit, expressing his displeasure at the disparaging remarks made about his family.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu also reacted strongly to the situation. Via Instagram, she urged politicians to stop using her name for political gains, stating, “Keep my name out of your political battles.”

Nagarjuna has taken significant legal action against the minister by requesting financial compensation for the harm caused by the disparaging comments.

Pooja Bhatt recalls being afraid to play her grandma in Zakhm

Pooja Bhatt played a single mom in Zakhm, and Kunal Kemmu essayed the role of her young son.

In Mahesh Bhatt’s semi-autobiographical film Zakhm, Pooja Bhatt has admitted that she was afraid to take on the challenge of playing a role based on her real-life grandmother.

In Zakhm, Pooja Bhatt portrayed a single mother, and Kunal Kemmu played her little kid. Her adult son was portrayed by Ajay Devgn in the movie, which also starred Nagarjuna and Sonali Bendre.

“Frankly, I was afraid to take on the burden of impersonating my grandma and tried my hardest to suggest to my father we cast another actress in my place, but my father gave me no choice,” Pooja said in an interview with ETimes. I’m not asking you, Pooja, he said. You are playing this part, I’m telling you. The conversation ended there. What follows is history. I had the honor of portraying my grandma, and the saree I was wearing in the song belonged to her.

“I will always be grateful to my father for that,” she continued. My grandma Shirin also owned the “mangalsutra” I wore in the movie. And our house’s set was an exact reproduction of the home my father grew up in as a boy. Those days and that space I shared with Kunal (Kemmu) in front of the camera are some of the most magical times of my life!”

Zakhm was praised by critics for promoting national integrity since it showed the division that religion-based politics causes in society and the possibility of inter-citizen unity.

Pooja mentioned her Muslim grandma a few years ago when she recalled how she used to take Pooja as a young child every Tuesday to the Siddhivinayak temple in Bombay. “On December 15, 1998, our movie #zakhm was censored. Shirin Nanabhai Bhatt, a Muslim woman who took me to the Siddhivinayak temple every Tuesday and to church every Wednesday and Friday, got the honor of playing my grandma in a movie. ‘All the roles that I did came looking for me’ says Nagarjuna

He has since worked in Hindi films like Khuda Gawah, Drohi, and Zakhm.
His portrayal of Major Padmapani Acharya in LOC Kargil was his last Hindi film before Brahmastra.

Nagarjuna is an Indian actor, film producer, television presenter, and entrepreneur. He has acted in over 100 films, predominantly in Telugu, along with a few Hindi and Tamil language films.

Nagarjuna’s cameo in the Hindi film Brahmastra, which just came out, was his first in almost 20 years. The actor, who works mostly in Telugu films, talked about why he doesn’t do much work in Bollywood. He also said why he chose to work on Brahmastra after turning down a number of “incredible” roles in Hindi movies over the years.

Shiva, a movie made in 1990, was Nagarjuna’s first movie in Bollywood. Since then, he has worked on movies like Khuda Gawah, Drohi, and Zakhm, among others, in Hindi. His last Hindi movie before Brahmastra was LOC Kargil (2003), in which he played Major Padmapani Acharya.

He said, “I was getting incredible roles. (But) I am kind of a home bird. I like to live in Hyderabad. I always did very special roles in Bollywood. Whatever I have done right from the beginning, it was important for me to entertain people. All the roles that I did came looking for me, I never (went for them).”

Chaitanya had an “unfortunate” experience, according to Nagarjuna, who also said that it is no longer a part of their life.

A part of Samantha’s statement read, “To all our well-wishers. After much deliberation and thought Chay (Chaitanya) and I have decided to part ways as husband and wife to pursue our own paths. We are fortunate to have a friendship of over a decade that was the very core of our relationship which we believe will always hold a special bond between us.”

Nagarjuna said, “He is happy, that’s all I see. That’s good enough for me. It’s an experience that happened to him. Unfortunate. We can’t keep moping about it. It’s gone. It’s out of our lives. So I hope it will be out of everybody’s life.”
