COVID-19 Update: 2,615 coronavirus cases reported in past 24 hours

During the past 24 hours, Pakistan reported 2,615 new coronavirus cases, taking the national tally of infections to 457,288.

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 80 more people succumbed to the deadly virus during this period, taking the death toll to 9,330 across the country.

In the previous 24 hours, a total of 37,206 samples were tested and 2,615 turned out to be positive.

The positivity ratio of coronavirus cases in Pakistan stands at 7.02%.

According to the details, the total number of active cases across Pakistan stands at 40,553 while 407,405 have recovered from the disease.

Sindh has reported a total of 204,103 infections, Punjab 131,428, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 54,948, Balochistan 17,909, Islamabad 36,117, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 7,961, and Gilgit Baltistan 4,822.

COVID-19 Update: 83 people succumb to coronavirus in past 24 hours

The novel coronavirus has taken 83 more lives, whereas, during the last 24 hours 2,972 new cases were reported in Pakistan.

According to the details, 83 more people lost their lives battling the deadly coronavirus, taking the death toll to 9,164. Moreover, during the last 24 hours 3,261 patients have recovered and 2,447 patients are in critcial condition.

In Pakistan, the total count of active cases is 42,478 with up to 7.58% positivity rate.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), with new reported cases in the country the national tally of corona cases now currently stands at 451,494.

39,171 tests were conducted across the country during this period. Overall 399,852 people in Pakistan have recovered from the deadly disease so far.

On the other hand, the Special Assistant on National Health Services Dr. Faisal Sultan has said the anti-Covid-19 vaccine to be procured by the government will be vaccinated free of cost to the general population.

In a media briefing in Islamabad, he assured that the vaccine will be procured keeping in view its safety, efficacy, and effectiveness.

He said one hundred and fifty million dollars had initially been set aside for the vaccine procurement and the amount can be further enhanced keeping in view the situation.

The Special Assistant said that the provincial authorities and other relevant institutions at a meeting today were also briefed about the national effort being made for the procurement of the vaccine.

Faisal Sultan said the virus positivity ratio has reached seven to eight percent and its intensity has increased in big cities. He once again asked the people to fully comply with the SOPs to avoid the spread of the virus.
