According to WABetainfo, WhatsApp is working to introduce a message to present when the user is using an antiquated version of the app that does not support receiving reactions.

“You already know what is a reaction: it’s usually an emoji that you can place on a message to express emotions. Instagram, Twitter, iMessage already support message reactions and today we can start to discover the progress of their development,” read a post on WABetainfo.

In this case, the user cannot see the reaction but WhatsApp will present a different message, asking to update its app to see the reaction:

WhatsApp To Roll Out Flash Calls Feature for Quick Log In

WhatsApp is trying to develop flash calls for Android

Popular messaging application WhatsApp is working on a new feature “Flash Call” that will help users to log into their accounts quickly.

Using this automatic verification method via WhatsApp Flash Call, the company will call your phone number and then automatically end the call, checking the last phone number in your phone’s log is equal to the number that gives you the 6-digit code.

WhatsApp is now working on an introduction for the feature to explain why it needs to be permitted to make and manage calls and access to your phone’s log.

According to WABetaInfo, “WhatsApp will call your phone number and then automatically end the call, verifying that the last phone number in your phone’s log is equal to the number that gives you the 6-digit code. This phone number is always different, so there is no way to trick this method, ensuring a safe experience.”

However, the messaging application will not use your call history for any other purpose. It will only compare the most recent entry from your call history with the phone number that is supposed to call you and will not be used in any other circumstances.

WhatsApp is implementing flash calls for Android

  1. This feature won’t be implemented on WhatsApp for iOS: Apple does not provide a public API for reading call history.
  2. This feature is optional: You can continue login into WhatsApp by entering the 6-digit code that was sent to you through SMS or phone call.
  3. WhatsApp won’t use your call history for other purposes: WhatsApp will simply match the most recent entry in your call history with the phone number that is meant to call you. This feature will not be used in any other circumstances.

Furthermore, this feature is being developed and will be available in a future WhatsApp for Android update.

WhatsApp to support chat history migration to a different phone number

WhatsApp: Five new features that could be available shortly

WhatsApp is working on a solution to let its users migrate their chat history between iOS and Android.

According to WABetaInfo, this feature will help the users to migrate chats even with different phone numbers.

This feature will solve the problem of the users who could not restore their chat history after buying a new cell phone that is not on the same operating system.

In fact, it’s not possible to restore your chat history from iCloud on WhatsApp for Android, and WhatsApp for iOS cannot restore the backup from Google Drive, WABetaInfo noted.

On the other hand, WhatsApp is apparently working on a feature that will automatically delete archive chats when they are no longer needed.

According to the website Android Police, which cites WABetainfo, WhatsApp is attempting to clear away unnecessary chats from users’ WhatsApp accounts.

Many users already archive a chat in order to organize their app, but a server-side test revealed that WhatsApp is evaluating some improvement to the feature.

Users may now view old chats by scrolling to the bottom of their app. If a new message is sent in the archived conversation, the chat will be removed from the archive list and delivered back to the top.

WhatsApp To Delete Archive Chats When They Are No Longer Needed

WhatsApp: Five new features that could be available shortly

WhatsApp, a Facebook-owned messaging application, is apparently working on a feature that will automatically delete archive chats when they are no longer needed.

According to the publication, WhatsApp is testing a new setting that would prevent conversations from being resumed from the archive even if a new message is received.

The feature, once it becomes available, can be switched on from the archive screen or by heading to Settings > Chats.

Once enabled, the archive section will be relocated from the bottom to the top of the chat list for better access, however, this may cause some interference.

The feature was spotted in WhatsApp beta 2.21.11.1, but because it is a server-side rollout, it will not be generally available until it is globally rolled out.
