Political parties requested to share sufferings of flood affectees

sufferings of flood affectees

ISLAMABAD: Sherry Rehman, Federal Minister for Climate Change, said on Thursday that flash floods in the nation had swept away hundreds of homes, leaving families homeless, the death toll had risen, and people were experiencing a scarcity of medical supplies and food.

Taking the Senate floor, she stated that at a time when the country was suffering natural disasters, political parties should come forward and share the anguish of flood victims rather than engaging in politics.

She slammed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) head, Imran Khan, saying his misrule has caused an ‘economic tsunami’ in the country.

She stated that while a peaceful protest is a right of every person in a democratic country, the law should not be used to suppress it.

The PTI has always acted in an undemocratic manner against the leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) (PPP). “Our leaders have experienced exile, but never spoke a single word against the state institutions, since the PPP believes in principles-based politics,” she insisted.

She said that Imran Khan’s double standard had been exposed to the public since his party had engaged a corporation in the United States to promote its image in the country.

She said that the PTI chairman and his party have been waging a systematic campaign on the concept that US-backed “local abettors” overthrew his government in a plot and established an administration of their choosing. “Now he [Imran] was working to get US trust for his Pakistani party,” she observed.
