According to the notification issued by the Sindh Police, the suspended officers and personnel have been sent to B Company. Among those sent to B Company are 3 inspectors and 3 sub-inspectors of East Zone.

According to the notification, a sub-inspector of Ghotki district, an ASI posted in the CIA and a head constable of Security Zone two are involved in criminal activities.

Naegleria claims life of youngster in Karachi

KARACHI: 19 year old male, resident of District East Karachi passed away from Naegleria Fowleri, Brain-eating amoeba at a private hospital in Karachi on Monday.

The patient started experiencing symptoms on August 18 2024 and was admitted in the hospital on August 21 2024. The presence of Naegleria Fowleri was confirmed in the patient on August 25 2024.

Upon investigation it was noted that the patient had not participated in any water related activities. His only exposure was regular use of water to perform ablution (wuzu) five times a day at home and occasionally to a nearby mosque.

In 2024, Naegleria Fowleri claimed five lives in Sindh province this year so far out of which four reported in Karachi and one in Hyderabad.

The experts said Naegleria is a Brain-eating amoeba that grows in clean water and is capable of eating the human brain by infecting the brain membrane through the nose, causing death. Naegleria does not reach the brain through the mouth, nor does the bacterium survive in salt water.

According to medical experts, 50% chlorine in water is necessary to prevent Naegleria.

Medical experts also say that household tanks should be cleaned at least twice a year, chlorine tablets should be used, and water should be boiled at 100 degrees Celsius for drinking and ablution to kill Naegleria.

At least two policemen sustained injuries after more than a dozen terrorists attacked Qabool Khel police check post in Punjab’s Mianwali.

According to a police spokesperson, about 12 to 14 khawarij attacked the check post with rockets and hand grenades.

However, the Punjab Police thwarted attacked by the terrorists after which they escaped, said the spokesperson, adding that two cops were injured in the attack.

RAWALPINDI: The accountability court has extended the judicial remand of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the new Toshahkhana reference till September 16.

Accountability Court judge Nasir Javed Rana held a hearing on the new Toshakhana reference against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, in which their lawyers and NAB prosecutor appeared in the court.

During the hearing, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s lawyer Salman Safdar argued that the new reference of Toshakhana is the same as the first reference, two references cannot be made on the same charge.

On this, the NAB prosecutor said that the documents can prove whether the new reference is similar to the previous one or not.

Meanwhile, the NAB prosecutor requested to get the judicial record of Toshakhan’s old reference, which was rejected by the court.

Later, the accountability court in a new reference extended the judicial remand of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi till September 16 and postponed further hearing of the case till September 6.
