PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a report regarding the loss of life and property due to rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the PDMA spokesperson, a total of 36 people were killed and 53 others injured in various incidents due to heavy rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since April 12.

Similarly, 2,391 houses were damaged due to rains, in which 388 houses were completely damaged and 2,000 houses were partially damaged.

On the instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur, PDM has released 110 million for the relief of the rain-affected people, while the relief materials have been provided to the administration of the affected districts.

Court approves medical checkup request of PTI founder, Bushra Bibi

RAWALPINDI: The Accountability Court of Rawalpindi has accepted the medical examination requests of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.

Accountability Court judge Nasir Javed Rana heard the £190 million reference in Adiala Jail.

The court has approved the requests for medical examination of founder PTI and Bushra Bibi and has ordered that an endoscopy test of Bushra Bibi should be done in two days from a private hospital. The endoscopy test should be done under the supervision of Dr Asim Yunus and the government doctor.

Judge Nasir Javed Rana ordered the immediate removal of the additional walls installed in the court, saying that the hearing would not proceed until the walls were removed.

On behalf of the lawyers, during the hearing, an application was filed regarding the difficulties of the media, on which the learned judge called the media representatives to the rostrum. On the order of the court, the founder of PTI also came to the rostrum.

Journalists said that there were difficulties in hearing the court proceedings, on which Judge Nasir Javed Rana directed the jail administration to take steps.

The accountability court adjourned the hearing on the £190 million reference till April 23.

SC rejects bail plea of suspect in spying case

ISLAMABAD:  The Supreme Court (SC) rejected the petition of an accused Muhammad Deen seeking bail in spying case .

A two-member bench consisting of Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Ayesha Malik heard the bail application of the alleged espionage suspect Muhammad Deen.

During the hearing, the court said that there is an allegation of money coming from abroad in the account of the accused and the petitioner is a citizen of Afghanistan.

Lawyer told the court that it has not been proved that the petitioner is a resident of Afghanistan.  He added that the accused is a Pakistani while passport and Computerised National Identity Card(CNIC)  have also been attached.

Justice Ayesha Malik inquired that the identity card of the accused has been blocked, to which the lawyer said that the bails of the other two accused involved in the case have been approved by the trial court.

Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar said that you(lawyer) should file a bail plea in the fresh ground Pretrial Court.

Later, the accused withdrew the petition after judicial observations and the court dismissed the plea on the basis of withdrawal of bail.

KARACHI: Two terrorists were killed in an attack on a foreigner’s vehicle in the Landhi area of ​​Karachi, however, all the foreigners traveling in a vehicle were safe and moved to an undisclosed location.

Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Malir Tariq Mastoi said there was a suicide attack on the vehicle.

According to the police, there were foreigners in the vehicle that was targeted and firing was also done at the time of the explosion. Three people were injured in the explosion.

According to the police, the persons who died in the incident have not yet been identified, but the two persons who were injured in the blast have been identified as 45-year-old Noor Muhammad and 45-year-old Langar Khan. Both were security guards and were in the car with them to protect the foreigners.

The police said that motorcycles had also been found near the foreigner’s car which was hit by the explosion. As a result of the explosion, the front part of the affected vehicle was severely damaged.

According to the police, five foreigners in the van were hit by the suicide attack and all the foreigners in the van are safe. The foreigners have been moved to a safe place, one suicide bomber was killed in the explosion while his other companion was killed by the police.

According to the police, preliminary information, the second terrorist killed in the encounter also committed suicide, a suicide jacket and a grenade were tied to the body of the dead terrorist, a vehicle and a motorcycle near the place of the explosion were damaged, and the bomb was disposed off.

Police officials said foreigners work in the export processing zone, the van was targeted by a motorcycle-borne suicide bomber, and a Kalashnikov and a bag full of hand grenades were also recovered from the scene.

The hospital authorities said that Noor Muhammad, Langar Khan, and Salman Rafiq were among the injured in the blast. The condition of the two is critical.

President, PM strongly condemn Karachi suicide attack

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned a suicide attack that took place in Karachi’s Landhi area, lauding the timely response by the police to avert casualties.

In separately issued statements, both the president and prime minister said that the timely action by the police averted a huge life loss, and reiterated their firm resolve to wipe out terrorism from the country.

“The whole nation will unitedly fight out the terrorism. The miscreants will be rooted out from the country,” the president remarked. Prime Minister Shehbaz also resolved that the government would not sit idle without eliminating the terrorism in to and thwarting all the nefarious attempts to disrupt the country’s peace.

He directed the authorities concerned to extend the best possible medical treatment to the injured and prayed for quick recovery.
