RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi awarded 7 year imprisonment in illegal Nikah case.

In Adiala Jail, Judge Qudratullah, who heard the case related to Nikah during Iddat, sentenced Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to 7 years in prison.

Yesterday, after a long hearing of about 14 hours, Judge Qudratullah reserved the verdict in the case related to Nikah in Eid.

The statements of Bushra Bibi’s ex-husband Khawar Manika, her employee Latif, Mufti Saeed and the witness of the marriage, Aun Chaudhry, were recorded in the case against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi regarding marriage during Iddat.

It should be noted that former prime minister Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were sentenced to 14 and 14 years in prison in the Toshakhana case, while Imran Khan was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the Cipher case.

SFA signs two agreements with ICCBS-Karachi University

KARACHI: Sindh Food Authority (SFA) has signed two Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi.

SFA signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Halal Certification Testing and Research Services (HCTRS) and the Industrial Analytical Center (IAC), ICCBS, University of Karachi.

This MoA aims to create a long-term framework of collaboration, cooperation, and development of a strong linkage between SFA and the research centers of the ICCBS for the testing of food products, which is in the interest of both institutions.

The SFA Director General Agha Fakhar Hussain and Prof Dr Farzana Shaheen, the Director of the ICCBS, University of Karachi, signed the agreement in a meeting held at the HEJ, Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi on Friday evening.

In his talk, the SFA Director-General praised the efforts made by the ICCBS administration to make this agreement possible in the interest of Sindh province. He also praised the industrial support and national services of the International Center (ICCBS).

He said the authority’s goal was to guarantee that the people of Sindh were fed in a safe, hygienic, and healthy manner by standards.

I want to have strong relations between SFA and the ICCBS, University of Karachi, he said, adding that SFA is trying to make all possible efforts to provide better food items to the people of Sindh.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Farzana Shaheen congratulated the officials of the SFA and ICCBS on the signing of the agreement. She hoped that this agreement would further strengthen the University’s HCTRS and IAC in the province.

Halal Testing Laboratory works to standardize and uplift the high-quality standard of nutrition & hygiene in Halal-certified food & other products by international export quality standards, she said.

LAHORE: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab arrested five terrorists during an intelligence-based operation. The terrorists were planning to attack various institutions.

70 operations were conducted in various cities of Punjab in view of terrorism concerns, CTD said that 5 terrorists were arrested during the intelligence based operation.

CTD spokesman said that the operation was conducted in Mianwali, Hafizabad, Okara and Jhelum. The CTD recovered explosives, 2 IED bombs, 10 detonators, arms and cash were recovered from the terrorists.

The spokesperson said that the terrorists were identified as Sharafat, Yaseen, Talha, Abdul Rehman and Usaid. The terrorists were planning to attack various institutions.

CTD officials further said that during 546 combing operations this week, 56 suspects were arrested, 21,337 people were questioned in combing operations.

Elections postponed in four constituencies after death of candidates

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has postponed the elections in four constituencies of the national and provincial assemblies, citing the unfortunate deaths of the candidates.

Delayed elections impact one national constituency and the remaining provincial ones in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, specifically NA-8 Bajaur, PK-22 Bajaur, PK-91 Kohat, and PP-266.

Independent candidate Rehan Zeb Khan, running for National Assembly constituency NA-08 and provincial assembly constituency PK-22 in Bajaur-IV, was assassinated, leading the ECP to cancel elections.

Additionally, elections for NA-91, Kohat-II, were postponed following the passing of Asmat Ullah Khan. Following the demise of Israr Hussain, son of Talib Hussain and a candidate for the Punjab Assembly constituency PP-266 (Rahim Yar Khan XII), the ECP has postponed the elections in that particular constituency.

The ECP spokesman states that, exercising the powers granted to the relevant Returning Officers (ROs) under Section 73 of the Election Act, 2017, the proceedings of the general election in the mentioned constituencies have been abruptly concluded.

The remaining contesting candidates will not be required to submit fresh nomination papers or deposit further dues once the revised schedule for these areas is released, as stated by the electoral watchdog.

RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested four drug peddlers in six operations and recovered 31 kg drugs from their possession.

ANF spokesman said informed that 51 heroin-filled capsules were recovered from a Sharjah-bound passenger arrested at Peshawar Airport.

200 grams heroin and 65 grams CBD oil were recovered from a parcel at a courier office in Rawalpindi.

16 grams of weed was recovered from a parcel, sent from England at Shahrah-e-Faisal Karachi Courier Office while 24 kg hashish was recovered from the possession of an accused Netted near M-4 Interchange Faisalabad.

4 kg of hashish was recovered from an accused arrested near Turki Toll Plaza, Suhawa and 4 kg hashish was recovered from an accused near Kamra Road, Attock.

Cases under the Anti-Narcotics Act have been registered against the arrested accused while further investigations were under process.
