ATC declares 7 PTI leaders as proclaimed offenders

LAHORE: The Anti-Terrorism Court declared seven leaders of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI)  as proclaimed offender in the case of burning police vehicles on Mall Road.

The Anti-Terrorism Court took action on the request of the police, a case has been registered against the accused in the Sarwar Road police station.

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) declared Azam Khan Swati, Murad Saeed and Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh as accomplices in the police vehicle burning case.

Apart from this, Hafiz Farhat, Muhammad Zubair Niazi, Wasiq Qayyum and Hamid Raza have also been declared proclaimed offenders by the Anti-Terrorism Court.

The investigating officer said that the advertisements of the accused were also published but they are not appearing.

The accused have deliberately gone into hiding and the accused are involved in burning police vehicles near Jinnah House on May 9.

Govt forms inter-ministerial committee for reform in FBR

ISLAMABAD: The caretaker federal cabinet has constituted an inter-ministerial committee for reforms in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The inter-ministerial committee formed for reforms in FBR will be chaired by the caretaker finance minister.

Ministers of Privatization, Foreign Affairs, Commerce, Energy, Law and Justice and IT will also join the committee while the committee will submit its recommendations on the proposals in the next meeting of the federal cabinet.

The caretaker prime minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar and all cabinet members have endorsed the FBR reform proposals.

The caretaker prime minister said that the caretaker government will complete the reform agenda in FBR.

It should be noted that there is strong resistance to FBR reforms and its digitization process from the top leadership of FBR.

A group of officers belonging to FBR’s Inland Revenue Services and Customs Group appeared before the Election Commission of Pakistan before the Cabinet meeting to strongly oppose the interim government’s approval of the summary on the matter.

Officers opposing the FBR reforms said that they believe the caretaker government does not have the power to make major changes in the FBR.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has unveiled the ultimate compilation of ten minority seats within the National Assembly.

The final list consists of candidates from different parties, with 10 representing Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), 5 from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), 2 from Tehreek-e-Labbaik (TLP), 7 from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), 4 from Jamaat-e-Islami, and 3 from Mutahidda Quomi Movement (MQM).

Earlier, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has frozen the development funds of all local government departments.

According to the notification issued by the ECP, the development funds of the local government departments have been frozen until the announcement of the results of the general elections.

The notification states that the local governments will only carry out the day-to-day affairs of sanitation and cleanliness, but no local development scheme will be announced or worked on.
