A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of IG Islamabad, Akbar Nasir Khan, regarding the security of the city during the election.

According to the spokesperson of Islamabad Police, the security plan related to the election has been finalized, but the practical steps are delayed due to the non-release of funds.

The spokesperson said that vacations of all police personnel have been banned until further notice, 10,000 personnel of police and other law enforcement agencies will perform duties, and the services of volunteers and retired officers will be taken for additional duties. Apart from this, 500 women volunteers have also been requested.

The spokesperson said that violations of the code of conduct of the election will not be tolerated; there will be no exception for the display of weapons, protests, or disturbances of public peace; cameras will be installed at all sensitive polling stations; and a central control room in Safe City Islamabad will be established.

Earlier, the Federal Cabinet on Tuesday approved the deployment of personnel from the Pakistan Army due to a shortage of more than 270,000 security personnel for the general elections for 2024.
