PTI suspends membership of 22 more leaders

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued a notification to suspend the basic membership of 22 more leaders for deviating from the party policy.

A formal notification was issued under the signature of Secretary General PTI Umar Ayub according to which the basic membership of Mahmood Khan, Zia Bangash, and Shaukat Ali was terminated.

According to the notification, the party membership of Muhammad Yaqoob Sheikh, Ehtisham Javed Akbar, and Agha Ikramullah Gandapur was terminated while Iqbal Wazir, Zahoor Shakir, Wilson Wazir, and Syed Muhammad Ishtiaq were also expelled from the party.

Similarly, Syed Iqbal Mian, Syed Ghazi Ghazan Jamal, Sher Akbar Khan, Shah Faisal Khan, Saleh Muhammad, Mufti Ubaidullah Khan, Nadeem Khayal Khan, Muhammad Shafiq Afridi, and Muhammad Didar were terminated from their primary membership. PTI also expelled Mohibullah Khan, Ibrahim Khattak, and Ahmad Hussain Shah from the party.

Earlier, PTI had terminated the primary party membership of former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak. PTI issued a show-cause notice to Pervez Khattak on 21 June 2023, after which his party membership was terminated for non-response.

FAISALABAD: Customs officials seized smuggled smartphones and other goods worth of millions of rupees and arrested three smugglers at Faisalabad Airport.

According to the details, the Customs officials seized a large number of smuggled smartphones, drone cameras, and other accessories worth millions of rupees at Faisalabad Airport.

Sources said that customs officials have arrested three smugglers who arrived from Sharjah.

Customs officials seized 971 smartphones, 78 iPods, drone cameras, and game hardware from passengers’ luggage, the suspects had hidden in bags.

Earlier, customs officials foiled an attempt to smuggle iPhones at the Sialkot airport and recovered 30 smartphones worth around Rs 100 million from a passenger.

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah accompanied by Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon visited Hyderabad, took an aerial view of the 10th Muharram Procession, and then landed at Cantonment Helipad.

The Chief Minister led the main procession at Qadam Gah where he also met with the leaders of the `Shia organizations who had organized the procession and asked them about the security arrangements made in consultation with them. They expressed satisfaction and thanked him for his cooperation and the visit.

The chief minister visited the control room where he was given a detailed briefing about the security arrangements by deputy commissioner Fawad Soomro and DIG Police Pir Mohammad Shah. The CM was told that there were three Layers of Security – at the Front and Rear Sides of the Main Procession. The connecting streets to the main route of the procession have been sealed. Static rooftop Static police pickets at all Masajid / Madaris situated along the route have been set up.

Mr. Shah was told that 11 designated entry points have been made. The Reserve platoons at three specific points have been deployed. The video recording of the entire event is being recorded through CCTV Control Room.

The Bomb Disposal (BD) has Swept the entire route as well as Qadam Gah Moula and Karabal Dadan Shah. There was close Co-Ordination of the administration with other stakeholders, including district administration, Health Department, Special Branch, WASA, HESCO, and others

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah flew back to Karachi and took an aerial view of the Moharram procession. Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon was accompanied by him. The CM along with Chief Secretary Sohail Rajput visited Command & Control Center at CPO and watched the movement of the procession and the public through different cameras connected with the screens of the control center.

The chief minister officially launched Police App `Talash’. The software application has been designed to identify the culprits, foreign or nationals, dead bodies through their thumb impressions. The recovered vehicles could also be identified by inserting their engine/chassis number in the app. The App has complete data on the culprits in its store and is also connected with the NADRA.

The film’s success marks the fourth-best debut for a Bollywood film this year, trailing behind “Pathaan,” “Adipurush,” and “Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.” Notably, “Adipurush” garnered a significant portion of its earnings from the Telugu version, while “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” outperformed it in the Hindi version alone. The film is projected to amass $3.75-4 million over the weekend on the international circuit.

North America emerged as the top-performing market for the film, raking in nearly half a million dollars, surpassing the $305K earned by “Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.” While the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand performed similarly to “KKBKKJ,” the Middle East saw a slight shortfall in collections. Despite the Eid boost, “KKBKKJ” managed to collect $730K in the region, while “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” is projected to attain only about half of that amount.

Expectations for “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” were high, considering Karan Johar’s remarkable track record overseas. Known for delivering some of Hindi cinema’s biggest blockbusters like “Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham,” “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” “My Name is Khan,” and “Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna,” Karan Johar has previously showcased his prowess in attracting international audiences. Even his 2016 film “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” garnered a stellar opening of $2.80 million. As such, the anticipation for Karan Johar’s films to perform exceptionally well overseas remains evident.

The territorial breakdown for the film’s first-day overseas collections is as follows:

North America: $475,000
Middle East: Approximately $350,000
Australia: $75,000
New Zealand: $20,000
United Kingdom: $105,000
Europe: $70,000
