The national space agency said Friday’s launch of Japan’s next-generation rocket failed due to an ignition issue.

The H3 rocket, JAXA’s 2001 H-IIA model’s successor, was scheduled to launch mid-morning from Tanegashima Space Centre in southwestern Japan.

“It appears that we failed to light the two solid rocket boosters, after successfully starting the main liquid engines,” JAXA spokesman Nobuyoshi Fujimoto told AFP.

News footage showed the spaceship sitting stationary on its launch pad as white smoke from its main engines indicated a successful ignition.

Fujimoto said the agency would investigate and reschedule the Friday launch, which has been postponed multiple times.

The H3 rocket was designed for more commercial launches, cost efficiency, and reliability.

JAXA has had other launch failures.

The agency had to self-destruct its solid-fuel Epsilon rocket after takeoff in October. It launched satellites for technology demonstrations.

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has invited the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Pakistan Sikandar Sultan Raja, for an urgent meeting on February  20, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, for consultation in terms of Section 57(1) of Elections Act, 2017, that provides that the President shall announce the date or dates of the general elections after consultation with the Commission (ECP).

In his letter to the CEC, the President said that since his letter dated February 08, some substantial developments (e.g., the Judgment of the Lahore High Court and recent observations of the Supreme Court) had taken place.

He expressed displeasure over the apathy and inaction on the part of the Commission that didn’t respond to his earlier letter as yet. The President stated that he had waited anxiously that the Commission would realize its constitutional duties to proceed and act accordingly, but he was extremely dismayed by ECP’s poignant approach on this important matter.

Former Federal Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi while talking to Bol News said that the use of audio has political purposes and questioned who gives the authority to record someone’s conversation.

He further said that Imran Khan has also given a reference to the audio recording in the letter to the President, who has the authority to record the conversation with the elected Prime Minister.

On the other hand, well-known lawyer Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan also spoke and said that the phone of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was tapped, where did the audio come to the interior minister.

Soon, Pakistani Twitter users started posting screenshots of Urvashi and Naseem’s Instagram conversation. One jokingly tweeted, “Relax guys, bari behan ne chotey bhai ko sirf birthday wish ki hai (an elder sister wished birthday to her brother, that’s all),” that it was an older sister wishing a younger brother on his birthday. One more person wrote, “In the comments area of Naseem Shah’s most recent Instagram post, Urvashi Rautela offered birthday greetings. Mr. RP will occasionally speak with Mr. Naseem Shah.”

Indirectly responding to Urvashi’s claims that a man named “Mr RP” previously waited for her in a hotel lobby for ten hours, cricketer Rishabh Pant published a remark on social media last year regarding the “falsehoods” individuals disclose in interviews. In response to stalking claims made against her by certain social media users last month, Urvashi tweeted a picture taken outside the Mumbai hospital where Rishabh was being treated for injuries sustained in an accident.

Urvashi released a fan-made video of herself and Naseem on social media last year after attending a match between Pakistan and India in which she could be seen blushing and grinning. The edited video combined Naseem’s on-field smile with another moment from the same game in which he was seen grinning. Urvashi had taken to Instagram Stories in September 2022 to clarify that the video featuring the Pakistani cricketer had been modified, saying, “A couple of days back, my team published all fan-made cute edits (about 11–12) without any awareness of other individuals involved in it.”
