- Both phones have support for the most recent 5G networks.
- There are many similarities between the two phones, but also many improvements.
- The Y75S offers 4K video recording while the older model could only record in 1080p.
The mid-range Y series selection from Vivo can be somewhat perplexing. This year’s Vivo Y16, Y22, Vivo V52t, Y75S, and other Y series smartphones have received updates from the manufacturer.
The Y series phones often become more powerful and pricey as you move up the series. But for smartphones, using digits as names isn’t the best option.
As a result, we have chosen to contrast the Vivo Y75S, a new model in the Y series portfolio, with the Vivo Y75, which was released earlier this year.
Although there are many similarities between the two phones, there are also many improvements. So let’s examine how the Y75S compares to the Y75 in more detail.
Keep in mind that the Y75S was just unveiled in China, but the Vivo V75 5G was first introduced in January in India.
It’s probable that the Y75S will eventually reach the Indian market.
One of the most notable features of these two phones is their support for the most recent 5G networks, as you might have already guessed from their names.

Design
The Vivo V75 and 75S variants differ only slightly in terms of design.
The back camera module, which is slimmer and smaller than the rectangular one seen on the previous Y75 model, is one of the design’s largest alterations.
There are still three cameras at the back despite the camera module being thinner than before. The camera configuration has actually been improved, but we’ll get to that in a moment.
When it comes to the front, both phones have the same designs. At the display’s bottom is a relatively thick chin and a waterdrop-shaped front camera.
There are very slight variations when it comes to the dimensions.
The dimensions of the Indian Vivo Y75 model were 164 x 75.9 x 8.3 mm, which is somewhat broader but thinner than the new Y75S’s body measurements of 164 x 75.3 x 8.5 mm.
Since they are both phones from 2022 and part of the same series, there isn’t much that sets these two gadgets from one another.
The Y75S also comes in two color options, one black and another gradient, similar to the two color options on the Y75 model, Glowing Galaxy, and Starlight Black.
Display
The two smartphones from the Vivo Y75 series are essentially mid-range. So don’t anticipate anything unusual in their displays.
In actuality, both phones still have IPS LCD displays, although the screens are decent considering the price.
The 6.58-inch displays on the two phones have the same 1080 x 2408 pixel resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, 60Hz refresh rate, and 120Hz touch sampling rate.
Again, for the price, this display performs admirably, but it doesn’t stand out in its category. Therefore, the two phones are equal in terms of display.
Specs
Once more, the processor in both of these phones is identical. The MediaTek MT6833 Dimensity 700 mid-range octa-core CPU, clocked at 2.2GHz, powers both of them.
The chip’s performance in the entry-level to mid-range market is rather respectable, but its potential to enable 5G at a reasonable cost is its standout feature.
But the available memory options are what actually distinguishes the new Y75S model from the earlier Y75.
Given that Chinese buyers frequently favor a smartphone with a lot of features, Vivo is releasing the Y75S in China with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The vivo Y75, in contrast, has a maximum RAM capacity of 8GB and a maximum storage capacity of 128GB.
The fact that the new model is still using an outdated clone of Android 11 with OriginOS Ocean UI on top is another surprise.
This is the same version that can be found on the Functouch 12 UI-topped Vivo 75 model that was released in India.
Connectivity
The two phones provide fair value for the money in terms of connectivity. The 5G networks are supported by both devices.
Along with more conventional features like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac support, Bluetooth 5.1, MicroSD card support (hybrid SIM slot), and a 3.5mm headphone socket, they also have security features like face unlock and a side-facing fingerprint scanner.
Camera
The Vivo Y75S has undergone some minor tweaks, but the significant advancements can be found in the camera section.
Despite having the same triple camera configuration as the Y75, each camera’s resolution has been increased.
For instance, the Indian Vivo Y75 model included a triple camera arrangement with a rudimentary 2MP macro and depth sensor and a 50MP f/1.8 primary camera.
The new Y75S, on the other hand, has a primary camera with a higher resolution—64MP f/1.8—along with an additional 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro camera.
This setup is noticeably superior and includes a more practical ultra-wide lens.
The resolution of the video is another significant improvement. The Y75S offers 4K video recording while the older model could only record in 1080p.
However, as the front camera on the Y75S has an 8MP sensor rather than the 16MP one seen on the Indian Y75 model, it would appear to be an upgrade.
Battery
Both gadgets have the same battery. The two phones each have a built-in 5000mAh battery that supports 18W charging.
Conclusion
Given that the Chinese Y75S and the Indian Vivo Y75 have comparable prices, the newer model appears to be a superior offering in the 2022 market.
In comparison to the previous Indian model, the Y75S offers users a superior photographic and memorable experience with a far better camera system and up to 12GB of RAM.
