Facebook grapples with another global outage

Novi Digital, a cryptocurrency wallet that will be introduced soon by Facebook. The wallet would be tied to the Diem Blockchain system.

Board member of Diem and Facebook’s financial services chief, David Marcus, claimed that the current cash-run economy has left 1.7 billion persons “unbanked or underbanked” and still the procedure is really slow.

Marcus stated, “Change is long overdue. It will happen in one way or another. Novi is ready to come to market. We feel that it’s unreasonable to delay delivering the benefits of cheaper, interoperable, more accessible digital payments,”

The launch of the Diem program was planned for the first half of the year 2021, however, the reason for the delay is due to the government Facebook inquiry.

Diem, formerly known as Libra, is a stable coin that converts money transferred to a digital wallet into digital cash and makes it simple to transmit money over the world.

With more than $100 billion costs of transactions in 55 currencies, Facebook, as a payment platform has already been made.

“It’s a misconception that digital assets are by definition anonymous. Built and configured the right way, stable coins and wallets put customer due diligence at the center of their approach to compliance.” Marcus wrote.

As per the post, the firm is trying to meet the terms with the regulators. “It has addressed every legitimate concern that was raised on its journey to design and build a high-quality stable coin”

He added, “This is with extensive consumer protections, and a highly compliant payments network to support it all within the U.S. regulatory perimeter.”

West Indies win the toss & opt to bowl first against Pakistan in the 2nd Test

West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite won the toss and this time also chose to bowl first on the first day of the 2nd Test against Pakistan at Sabina Park on Friday.

After scrambling to an exciting one-wicket win in the 1st Test at the same venue 5 days earlier, the West Indies have made one change by including a fast bowler Alzarri Joseph further boosting their pace attack over left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican.

Pakistan has also made a change and removed an experienced wrist-spinner Yasir Shah, who went wicketless in the 1st Test and added a left-arm orthodox slow bowler Nauman Ali.

West Indies are looking for a first Test series victory over Pakistan for 21 years.

Do you know which is the largest rock cut in India?

Kalish temple in India is the largest rock-cut temple carved from a single rock in the 8th century. It took 18 years to complete it.

Kailasa temple lacks a dedicatory inscription, but there is no doubt that it was commissioned by a Rashtrakuta ruler.[7] Its construction is generally attributed to the Rashtrakuta king Krishna.

The Vadodara copper-plate inscription (c. 812-813 CE) of Karkaraja II (a ruler of a Rashtrakuta branch of Gujarat) records the grant of a village in present-day Gujarat. It mentions Krishnaraja as the patron of Kailasanatha and also mentions a Shiva temple at Elapura (Ellora). It states that the king constructed a temple so wondrous that even the gods and the architect were astonished.[8] Most scholars believe that this is a reference to the Kailasa Shiva temple at Elora.[9]The Kadaba grant of Govinda Prabhutavarsha similarly appears to credit Krishnaraja with the construction of the temple.[7]

However, the attribution of the temple to Krishna I is not completely certain because these epigraphs are not physically connected to the caves, and do not date Krishnaraja’s reign.[8] Moreover, the land grants issued by Krishna’s successors do not contain any references to the Kailasa temple.

Shocking: “A Tree growing inside Human body”

A 28 years old man from Russia went to the doctor after coughing up blood and having chest pain. The Doctors thought he had cancer and performed surgery to remove it. But During surgery, they found that it was actually a “Tree growing inside” him.

Medical staff believe that Mr Sidorkin somehow inhaled a seed, which later sprouted into a small fir tree inside his lung.

‘We were 100 per cent sure,’ said surgeon Vladimir Kamashev from Izhevsk in the Urals. ‘We did X-rays and found what looked exactly like a tumour. I had seen hundreds before, so we decided on surgery.’

Before removing the major part of the man’s lung, the surgeon investigated the tissue taken in a biopsy.

‘I thought I was hallucinating,’ said Dr Kamashev. ‘I asked my assistant to have a look: “Come and see this – we’ve got a fir tree here”.

‘He nodded in shock. I blinked three times as I was sure I was seeing things.’

They believed the coughing of blood was caused by the tiny pine needles piercing blood capillaries. ‘It was very painful. But to be honest, I did not feel any foreign object inside me,’ said Mr Sidorkin. ‘I’m so relieved it’s not cancer.’

The report appeared in popular tabloid Komsomolskaya Gazeta and was picked up by Russian news service Novosti.

Two Beluga whales transported from Chinese aquarium to new open water, ocean and their smile says it all

Two Beluga whales from a Shanghai aquarium have returned to the sea in an Icelandic sanctuary, conservationists said Monday, expressing hopes of creating a model for rehoming some 300 belugas currently in captivity.

Little White and Little Grey, two 13-year-old females, left behind their previous lives entertaining visitors at the Changfeng Ocean World in June 2019 when they were flown to Iceland’s Klettsvik Bay in the Westman Islands, in specially tailored containers.

Recently, they were moved from their landbased facility to care pools in the sea at Klettsvik Bay — the first time the two belugas have been in the sea since they were taken from a Russian whale research centre in 2011, the conservation charity Sea Life Trust said in a statement on Monday.

They will stay in the care pools “for a few weeks” before they are released into the bigger sanctuary, a 32,000-square-metre (344,445-square-foot) sea pen that will become their home, organisers said.
