West Indies win the toss & opt to bowl first against Pakistan in the 2nd Test

West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite won the toss and this time also chose to bowl first on the first day of the 2nd Test against Pakistan at Sabina Park on Friday.

After scrambling to an exciting one-wicket win in the 1st Test at the same venue 5 days earlier, the West Indies have made one change by including a fast bowler Alzarri Joseph further boosting their pace attack over left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican.

Pakistan has also made a change and removed an experienced wrist-spinner Yasir Shah, who went wicketless in the 1st Test and added a left-arm orthodox slow bowler Nauman Ali.

West Indies are looking for a first Test series victory over Pakistan for 21 years.

The visitors are expecting to repeat the efforts of the 2005 and 2011 tours of the Caribbean when they lost the 1st encounters.

Babar Azam rises to 8th position in the ICC Test rankings

Babar Azam rises to 8th position in the ICC Test rankings

Pakistan captain Babar Azam has enhanced his position in the ICC Test batting rankings after showing his quality performance in the recent series with West Indies.

In the latest weekly ICC update, which includes performances in the first Test in Kingston, shows Babar Azam rise to 8th position from 10th position among batters after scores of 30 and 55, on the other hand, Faheem Ashraf and Fawad Alam have also increased 4 slots each to reach 48th and 55th positions, respectively.

In the ICC list, Pakistani pacers included are Hassan Ali (15), Mohammad Abbas (17), and Shaheen Shah Afridi (18).

Unfortunately, not a single Pakistani all-rounder is included in the top 10 ICC list.

England skipper Joe Root’s brilliant form in the current Test series against India has helped him to surge to the 2nd spot in the rankings.

Joe scored beautiful 180 runs in the 1st innings of the 2nd Test match against India at Lord’s ground and was one of the few bright spots in the host’s 151-run defeat. He was placed at the 5th position before the start of the series but 2 centuries in 2 matches has brought him within striking distance of Kane Williamson’s top spot.

Indian Kananur Lokesh Rahul has also made huge improvements in the batting charts, rising 19 spots to 37th position in the batting rankings.

James Anderson’s 5 wicket haul in the first innings helped him gain 1 spot to 6th position in the ICC bowling rankings. Mark Wood and Mohammed Siraj also raise in the rankings, gaining 5 and 18 spots respectively. Mark currently ranked 37th with Mohammed at 38th.

After his dazzling all-around display during the Pakistan series, Jason Holder broke into the top 10 of the ICC bowling rankings, gaining 2 positions to 9th. He also gained 5 spots in the batting rankings, rising to 43rd Position.

Jayden Seales was also a big gainer, rising 39 places to the 58th spot in the bowling charts after his 8 wickets in the match.
