Sergio Ramos joins Paris St-Germain on a two-year deal

Sergio Ramos

Following Sergio Ramos’ departure from Real Madrid, Paris St-Germain has signed him to a two-year contract.

Sergio Ramos, 35, left Madrid at the end of June after spending 16 years with the Spanish Giants. With Real, he won five La Liga crowns and four Champions League medals, making him Spain’s most capped player.

“I am very happy to join Paris St-Germain,” Ramos said. “This is a big change in my life, a new challenge and it’s a day I will never forget.”

PSG chairman and chief executive Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: “Paris welcomes one of the greatest players of our era.”

Ramos is PSG’s third summer signing, following the arrivals of Inter Milan defender Achraf Hakimi and Georginio Wijnaldum from Morocco. After leaving Liverpool, the Dutch midfielder also joined on a free transfer.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team, who finished second to Lille in the Ligue 1 championship race last season, have also been linked with a move for Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is a free agent after leaving AC Milan.

Ramos will reunite with former Real Madrid teammates Angel di Maria and Keylor Navas after being left out of Spain’s Euro 2020 squad.

TikTok Influencers Forbidden from Promoting Cryptocurrencies

tiktok

TikTok, a very popular video-sharing application that is partly responsible for the rise of meme cryptocurrencies like Dogecoin, has banned its users from promoting cryptocurrencies,  stated British Newspaper.

Apart from cryptocurrency, TikTok has recently modified branded content policy which prohibits many other financial services and products, including loans, credit cards, and forex trading.

For promoting certain products, popular social media profiles are generally paid.

To cater to the app’s young consumers, several big fintech businesses, such as Revolut, would work with “fintok”(a very particular corner of the country’s fastest-growing social media app) influencers.

On the other hand, the new policy will put an end to such collaborations.

There were fears that some fraudulent users were looking for young people’s gullibility and with the lack of investment knowledge.

The firm has also improved its approach to user safety by implementing a system that deletes any films that breach its guidelines instantly:

“Over the next few weeks, we’ll begin using technology to automatically remove some types of violative content identified upon upload, in addition to removals confirmed by our Safety team.”

Former England Captain Michael Vaughan branded Pakistan’s performance ‘pathetic’

Michael Vaughan

Former England captain Michael Vaughan branded Pakistan’s performance against England  “pathetic” in a series of tweets directed at them.

In the first ODI, England defeated Pakistan by nine wickets, thanks to a dismal showing by the visiting team with the bat. Pakistan batted first and were bowled out for 141 in less than 36 overs at Cardiff, with England pacer Saqib Mahmood taking 4/42 to rock Pakistan’s innings, with Fakhar Zaman’s 47 the best individual score. England won by 9 wickets in 21.5 overs, thanks to half-centuries from Dawid Malan and Zak Crawley.

Following Pakistan’s dreadful performance, Michael Vaughan sneered at the team. The former England captain called Pakistan’s performance ‘pathetic’ in a series of tweets.

“For England to rock up only yesterday as a team & perform like they did tells us so much about the culture of the white ball team .. very, very impressive .. for Pakistan they were PATHETIC .. It’s the only way to describe a performance like that,” Vaughan tweeted.

Vaughan tweeted the above after the conclusion of the match, but he also tweeted after Pakistan’s innings. “Love watching Pakistan play Cricket… A team that can beat any team in the world on any given day but also lose to any team on any given day,” the other tweet read.

Captain Babar Azam expressed disappointment with his team’s performance and stated that the second ODI at Lord’s will help to level things. “Credit to England for this. “We didn’t get momentum, or a big partnership. Fakhar carried his form on from South Africa. We are looking forward to Lord’s and we have to try and do our best,” he said after the match.

In Canada some used cars are more expensive than new cars

US Cars

Car manufacturing plants have been shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there’s a huge backlog of orders for Computer chips, and several commuters who ditched public transit and bought their first cars.

The Canadian auto sector is experiencing a perfect storm, which is resulting in a shortage of new and used cars, as well as rising prices.

Warren Barnard, the executive director of the Used Car Dealers Association of Ontario said, “If people have to wait two or three months to get a new vehicle, they will buy a used one, so demand is up there [in the used vehicle market],”

In Canada, new car inventory is down approximately 20%, but it’s down about 50% in the United States.

Because Americans are in the same situation, so some American dealers are purchasing used cars at auto auctions north of the border at prices that Canadian dealers can’t compete with.

Euro 2020 Final

The Euro 2020 final between England and Italy is expected to draw over 60,000 fans to Wembley Stadium on Sunday at 21:00 CEST, and it appears like everyone is keen to secure a ticket.

The final of Euro 2020 is sold out, but fans have been attempting to get tickets through resale websites, where prices have soared in the days leading up to the event, especially after England qualified on Wednesday night after defeating Denmark in the semi-finals.

The cheapest tickets available on second-hand internet platforms start at roughly 3,800 euros and have gone up to 20,000 euros on some websites, despite the fact that the tickets were originally priced at a moderate 95 euros, as specified on UEFA’s official website.

Fans have already expressed their dissatisfaction with the United Kingdom’s restrictive COVID-19 limitations, which require passengers to isolate for 10 days after arriving in England.

According to Reuters, UEFA has secured an agreement with the British government that will enable up to 1,000 fans to travel in from Italy to attend the final.

Italy has only won the European Championship once in their history, in 1968, and they finished second in 2000 and 2012, losing to France and Spain, respectively.

Meanwhile, England will compete in their first major final since winning the 1966 World Cup. They had never won the European Championship or even made it to the final previously. Until now.
