Saudi Govt. yet to decide total number of pilgrims allowed to perform Hajj

Noorul Haq Qadri, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs on Sunday clarified that the Saudi government had not yet decided regarding the number of pilgrims being allowed to perform Hajj this year.

After speaking with Saudi Hajj and Umran minister, Qadri shared a video on the micro-blogging site Twitter and said,

“The Saudi health ministry has made recommendations about the number of Hajj pilgrims and Covid-19 SOPs, but a final decision has yet to taken.”

The Religious Affairs Minister went on to clarify that the Saudi government will take Pakistan into confidence regarding the number of pilgrims, Covid SOPs, and vaccination.

It should be mentioned here that earlier Saudi Arabia had allowed 60,000 pilgrims from all over the world, including Pakistan, to perform Hajj this year.

The Prime Minister’s Special Representative for Religious Harmony and the Middle East, Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, also confirmed the Saudi decision, saying that the Saudi government has approved the arrival of pilgrims from around the world.

He said that Pakistan would be informed later about how many pilgrims would be able to go to Saudi Arabia from Pakistan.

Allama Tahir Ashrafi said that people below the age of 18 and over 60 will not be able to go for Hajj while the pilgrims will have to be quarantined in Saudi Arabia for 3 days with corona vaccination.

Sindh Govt. To Further Tighten COVID-19 Restrictions amid surge in cases

The Sindh government on Sunday has warned people of further closure of activities amid rising coronavirus positivity in the province.

A meeting of the Sindh task force was held today on coronavirus, in which a rise in positivity was observed throughout the province, especially in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur told the Home Department.

“The Task Force discussed various ways and means to contain the disease. It was reiterated that compliance of the SOPs for Covid continues to remain a cornerstone measure for control of disease spread,” said the statement.

“The Task Force also decided to issue strict warnings and advice for the public to strictly follow SOPs on Covid control with a warning that if the cases rise, the closure of many activities may have to be undertaken, especially in areas with high positivity,” it added.

The forum also decided to increase testing “so that proper positivity is reflected”.

The following changes were announced following the meeting:

  • Business hours will now be from 5am to 6pm, except for essential services.
  • Bakeries and milk shops are allowed to operate till midnight.
  • Pharmacies inside shopping malls will close at 6pm, along with other shops.
  • Fridays and Sundays to be off days for businesses, except for Hyderabad, where Fridays and Saturdays will be the designated off days.
  • All outdoor and indoor dining is henceforth barred; takeaway, drive through and delivery services to continue.

Public transport:

Inter-city, intra-city and inter-provincial — allowed with 50% occupancy, strict observance of SOPs.

Places/activities still closed:

  • Marriage halls, business centers, expo halls.
  • Contact sports, indoor gyms, sports facilities, sporting tournaments — indoor and outdoor.
  • Theme parks, amusement parks, arcades for video games, carrom/dabbu playing areas.
  • Tourist spots such as Keenjhar Lake and Lab-e-Mehran, picnic spots, all beaches, and recreational parks.
  • Beauty parlors.
  • Clinics.
  • Cinemas and theatres.
  • Shrines.
  • All types of indoor and outdoor religious, cultural, musical social gatherings

Factories/industries/markets:

The factories and market owners have to make sure that their employees have a properly ventilated space, they observe social distancing, and have access to washing areas.

There should be no extra people present inside the working area.

Workers, coming to work, must travel with strict SOP compliance in public transport, or dedicated transport must be provided to them.

Coronavirus: At least 11 more patients died in Sindh during past 24 hours

According to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Sindh has reported 1,529 new coronavirus cases during the past 24 hours.

According to the details, 11 people lost their lives due to coronavirus, taking the province’s death toll to 4920 and cases to 303,306.

CM Sindh said that 2067 people tested positive after 20,421 tests were conducted across Sindh.

CM Murad said that so far 3980371 tests have been conducted and 599 patients have recovered.

Out of 1529 new cases in the province, 1066 are reported from Karachi, said Chief Minister of Sindh.

South District 332, East District 277, Central District 175, Malir 124, Korangi 83, and West District 75 new cases were reported.

Hyderabad 145, Shikarpur 30, Kashmore 27, Sujawal 22, Ghotki 21, Qambar 17, Sukkur 16, Shaheed Benazirabad 15, Umerkot 14, Badin 13, Sanghar 12, Tando Allahyar 12, Jamshoro 12, Nowshera Feroze 11, Larkana 11, Matiari 10, Mirpur Khas 10. , Thatta 10, Khairpur 9, Dadu 5, Jacobabad 4, Tando Muhammad Khan 2 cases.

PSL 2021: Schedule Of Remaining PSL 6 Matches Delayed

Asia Cup 2021 Postponed For Straight 2 Years

Asian Cricket Council postpones Asia Cup 2021

The Asia Cup 2021 has officially been postponed for two years and now will be held in 2023.

As per the details, the decision of postponing the tournament is due to the packed international schedule and coronavirus pandemic, forcing the Asian Cricket Council to reschedule it.

ACC said in a media release that

“The ACC Executive Board, in face of the risks and restrictions posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, had made the difficult decision to postpone the Asia Cup 2020 to 2021. Since then, the ACC has been working with its participants and stakeholders to try and ensure that the event is held in the year.”

“However, on account of a packed FTP, it has been concluded that there is no practical window in the year when all the teams would be available to participate. The Board has accordingly considered the matter very carefully and determined that the only way ahead would be to postpone the event. It would therefore only be feasible for this edition of the tournament to be held in 2023 as there is already an Asia Cup in 2022. Dates for the same will be confirmed in due course.”

Earlier this month, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board had announced the postponement of the Asia Cup 2021.

According to the details, the Asia Cup was earlier scheduled to be held in June, however, Ashley de Silva, Sri Lanka Cricket CEO, said that it will be difficult to host the tournament due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Due to the prevailing situation, it will not be possible to play the tournament in June this year,” De Silva said.

PCB had earlier confirmed that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Asia Cup has been postponed to 2022.

“PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani briefed the BoG on matters relating to the International Cricket Council as well as this year’s ICC T20 World Cup and the ACC Asia Cup, which has now been postponed to 2022,” read a statement from the PCB.

However, nothing was said by the Sri Lankan Cricket Board on the tournament.

It should be mentioned here that the Asia Cup has been postponed for the second time. Earlier the tournament was postponed in 2020 due to coronavirus, for that, ACC had decided to host it in June 2021.

Sindh: All educational institutions to remain closed For More Two Weeks

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has on Sunday said that the schools, colleges and universities in the province will remain closed for more two weeks amidst the sharp COVID-19 spike.

According to the details, the educational institutes in 12 districts of Sindh will remain closed till June 6, as the coronavirus positivity ratio in those districts is higher than 5%.

In a statement, the ministry said the districts include Badin, Dadu, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, and all districts of Karachi.

Similarly, elsewhere across the country as well, wherever the positivity ratio is higher than 5%, the educational institutes will remain closed till June 6 and open on June 7, the ministry said.

All educational institutions will remain closed throughout Islamabad, the federal ministry added.

Yesterday, the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) has directed provinces not to open educational institutions in the districts with high coronavirus rates.

NCOC has sent a letter to the provinces, in which it said that schools should not reopen on May 24th where the COVID-19 positivity ratio is high.

“The districts where the infection rate is less — below 5% — can reopen educational institutions (on May 24),” NCOC said in a notification sent to the provinces.

A decision on whether or not educational institutes can reopen on June 7 will be taken on June 3, the letter added.

Special Plane Carrying 2 Million Sinovac Vaccine Doses From China Arrives In Pakistan

Islamabad: 500,000 doses of the ‘Sinovac’ vaccine transported from Beijing

A special Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane PK 6853 carrying another consignment of two million Sinovac vaccine doses has arrived in Pakistan from the Capital International Airport Beijing on Sunday (today).

PIA Country Manager for China said a special flight PK 6852 had also transported a consignment of one million doses of Sinovac vaccine last Sunday.

The Chinese authorities have vowed to continue the uninterrupted supply of vaccine to help Pakistan battle the ongoing deadly COVID-19 outbreak.

Pakistan has so far received over 13 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines comprising of Sinopharm, Sinovac and CanSino obtained from China.

Earlier, Pakistan had received 1.2 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to maintain the ongoing immunization drive against the deadly pandemic.

British high commissioner to Pakistan, Christian Turner, had tweeted that Pakistan has received 1.2 million AstraZeneca vaccine doses.

“This pandemic has kept us apart but also brought us together. Welcoming the arrival of the first batch of #COVAX UniofOxford AstraZeneca vaccines in Pakistan; 1.2m doses for world’s 5th largest country,” Turner said on Twitter.

On the other hand, in addition to guidelines that apply to all COVID-19 vaccines, Oxford-AstraZeneca will not be administered to females below the age of 40 years in Pakistan.

Vaccine Storage

  1. Storage and transportation in maximum shelf life are 6 months stored in a refrigerator between 2 to 8°C.
  2. Once removed from the fridge, maybe stored between 2 to 25°C for up to 6 hours.
  3. Do not freeze the vaccine in any circumstance.
  4. Protect the vaccine from direct exposure to sunlight.
  5. Once punctured, the vial must be used within 6 hours.
  6. Must not be frozen.
  7. During storage keep vials in the outer carton to protect from light.

Who Should Receive The Vaccine?

  1. All male adults over the age of 18 years.
  2. Women over the age of 40 years

Taking to Instagram, the Dil-e-Gumshuda starlet posted cute pictures with her better half, wishing him on their anniversary.

“HAPPY ANNIVERSARY. 22 MAY. Ek saal kesay guzar gaya pata bhi nahi challa.. ALHAMDULILLAH,” wrote Hina.

Aagha Ali had expressed his love and feelings to have Hina as his life partner with just limited members attending their Nikkah ceremony.

Earlier, the actor had said that he is so blessed to have a wife like Hina with whom he can spend every bit of his life happily and like crazy.

In an interview, previously, actor and singer Aagha had revealed the habit of Hina that annoys him the most.

Aagha said: “I get very irritated with her habit that if she lost her glasses, and if I find them ten times a day she will lose it 10 times a day and all the 10 times we will find them from another place.”

However, Hina agreed with her husband while giggling and accepted that she forgets about things.

Also, the actor had detailed how he proposed the love of his life.

FM Qureshi Lambasts Newly Formed Jahangir Tareen Group

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, in his recent remarks, lambasted the Jahangir Tareen group within the PTI, questioning their trust and loyalty towards the premier.

In his statement, the Foreign Minister called out the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers that are supporting Jahangir Tareen.

“[They say] we are with you [the PTI] and then they say that they are not with us. Then they say Imran Khan is their leader. If that is so, then why the contradiction?” he asked.

“Imran Khan has said he is not out to get revenge,” said FM Qureshi.

He said that the sugar mafia has been blackmailing this government, adding that they threaten of turning the “majority into a minority”.

“I tell Imran Khan to take a stand,” Shah Mahmood added.

Jahangir Tareen Rejects Reports About A ‘Separate Group’

PTI leader Jahangir Tareen had rejected all media reports on the formation of the ‘Jahangir Tareen Group’.

He said, “I reject these media reports and want to make it clear that we were, are and will remain part of PTI.”

“When my colleagues met Prime Minister Imran Khan, he was contented and nominated Ali Zafar to inquire into the matter,” he said.

He further said that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had handed over the documents to him on which the matter was raised, ie provided all the money trail.

He said that Ali Zafar’s report would come to light soon.

“When Prime Minister Imran Khan said that there would be no retaliation against Tareen and justice would be done, I had full faith in him,” he said.

Tareen added that Prime Minister Imran Khan is fulfilling the requirements of justice. He also reiterated that we are and will remain a part of PTI.
