PM, President Commend Shehroz Kashif Over His Successful Mt. Everest Summit

Shehroz Kashif Mt. Everest

Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Dr Arif Alvi have commended Shehroz Kashif, who became the first young mountaineer to conquer the world’s highest Mount Everest.

The tweet by Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said, “Congratulations to 19-year old Shehroz Kashif on being the youngest Pakistani to climb #MountEverest the highest mountain in the world.

Moreover, the President has praised the young climber over his achievement and also wished him good luck in the future.

“Congratulations @Shehrozekashif2 for becoming the youngest Pakistani to scale Mt Everest. We are proud of you. I remember your passionate intention to do so when you visited me in Presidency in Feb. I wish you good luck in the future, now that you have Mt Everest in the bag,” the tweet read.

At the age of just 19 years, Shehroz Kashif becomes the youngest Pakistani to summit Mt. Everest.

He reached the height of 8,848 meters to achieve the summit and set a world record of the youngest Pakistani to do so.

Note that the world’s highest mountain range, Mount Everest is 0.86m higher than had been previously officially calculated, Nepal and China had jointly announced.

Until then the countries had differed over whether to add the snow cap on top. The new height of Mount Everest is 8,848.86m.

China’s previous official measurement of 8,844.43m had put the mountain nearly four metres lower than Nepal’s. Everest stands on the border between China and Nepal and mountaineers climb it from both sides.

According to the officials at Nepal’s department of the survey, surveyors from both countries had coordinated to agree on the new height.

The debate over the actual height of the peak has intensified in recent years over concerns that it might have shrunk after a major earthquake in 2015.

However, disagreements have also focused on whether snow covering the summit should be included.

Earlier in 1990, an American survey used GPS technology to settle on 8,850 metres, with a two-metre margin of error, a height that became widely recognized.

Back in February 2021, Pakistan’s climbing hero Muhammad Ali Sadpara went missing with two other mountaineers, John Snorri from Iceland and Juan Pablo Mohr from Chile during their expedition towards the K2 summit on February 05.

Kabul School Attack: Tehran’s iconic Azadi Tower lit up to express solidarity

Kabul School Attack Solidarity

Tehran’s iconic Azadi Tower lit up to express solidarity with Afghan people over the recent deadly terror attack on the Kabul school district.

According to media reports, the blast on girls’ school in the Afghan capital Kabul had killed 85 schoolgirls and left dozens wounded.

The blast reportedly took place as students were leaving the school building. According to the Ministry of Education, a large number of the injured were girls.

Interior Ministry spokesman Tariq Arain did not give a motive for the blast but confirmed that at least 40 people had been killed.

An Interior Ministry official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the international news agency Reuters that most of the dead were students.

Ministry of Health spokesman Ghulam Dastgir Nizari said 46 injured had been taken to the hospital so far.

It should be noted that the United States had announced the withdrawal of all its troops from Afghanistan by September 11 and security in Kabul has been on high alert since then. Afghan officials claim that the Taliban have escalated violent attacks across the country.

No group has claimed responsibility for Saturday’s attack. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the Taliban had nothing to do with the attack. He condemned the attack.

Numerous photos show bags of dead and injured children lying on the road.

The attack took place in the western part of Kabul, where large numbers of Shia Muslims live. The so-called Islamic State has claimed responsibility for several attacks in recent years.

According to Reuters, the Ministry of Education says that both boys and girls study in this school. The teaching process is continued in three shifts while the female students study in the second shift.

Most of those injured in the attack were female students.

The European Union’s mission in Afghanistan said in a statement that “this horrific attack is terrorism.”

“It’s mainly targeted at schoolgirls and it’s an attack on the future of Afghanistan.”
