Hyundai Innovates with 90-Degree Tire Movement for Enhanced Parking Safety

Hyundai Innovates with 90-Degree Tire Movement for Enhanced Parking Safety
  • Innovative and stylish electric bicycle, MS Jaguar EV-125, redefining daily transportation.
  • Powered by a robust 2000W motor and long-lasting lithium-iron phosphate battery.
  • Low maintenance requirements, focusing on brake shoes and tires, while offering top-quality components and comfortable shocks.

During this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, Hyundai, the automobile manufacturer, unveiled a new vehicle called the Ioniq 5. What sets this car apart is its unique ability for its wheels to rotate up to 90 degrees, allowing it to perform lateral movements resembling a “crab” driving style.

The technology driving this innovation was developed by Hyundai Mobis, a division of the Hyundai Motor Group specializing in automotive components. They demonstrated this technology in action by showcasing it on the electric Ioniq 5 model at CES 2023.

Initially introduced as a concept at CES 2018, this groundbreaking technology revolutionizes the way cars can maneuver. It goes beyond the traditional forward and backward movements seen in regular vehicles. With the Ioniq 5, lateral and even diagonal movement becomes possible.

This innovation is made possible through a system known as the “e-Corner module” or “e-Corner system.” This specialized system allows the car’s wheels to pivot by 90 degrees, enabling sideways motion.

As explained by Hyundai Mobis, the “e-Corner module” is a sophisticated integration of steering, braking, suspension, and propulsion systems within each wheel. Each wheel is equipped with its own electric motor and is linked to an advanced suspension system.

This configuration grants the driver the ability to independently control each wheel, delivering precise steering and dynamic control that was previously unattainable.

Hyundai to begin EV production in US

Hyundai EV production
  • Hyundai plans to move the manufacturing of its electric vehicles forward to 2024.
  • The new EV tax credit regulations have generated a lot of controversies.
  • There are now only a few dozen electric vehicles available for purchase in the US.

The new EV federal tax credit regulations are rather simple; a vehicle must be produced in the US or a nation with which the US has a free trade agreement in order to be eligible for the $7,500 credit.

In addition, the battery used in an EV produced in the USA must be constructed with components from North America.

For the automakers, it’s a major issue, and they are all looking for a solution.

Hyundai goes above and beyond the battery agreements that VW and Mercedes have with Canada.

To bring manufacturing to the US, the corporation already has plans in place, but not until 2025.

According to an article by an International media agency, those preparations are now progressing quite a bit.

Hyundai intended to start construction on a new manufacturing facility in Georgia sometime in the first half of 2023.

The project was expected to have a 300,000 vehicle capacity annually when it begins to produce automobiles.

Hyundai plans to move the manufacturing of its electric vehicles forward to 2024 with the construction of a $5.5 billion factory that will start later this year due to new tax credit regulations that would affect sales of electric Hyundai vehicles.

If Hyundai wants to remain competitive, it makes sense for it to accelerate its ambitions.

By 2030, Hyundai expects to sell approximately 2 million electric vehicles annually, with 11 new models from its flagship brand and six high-end models from Genesis.

The Ioniq 5 has enjoyed widespread acclaim and accolades from authoritative sources, but the Ioniq 6 completely changed the game.

The Ioniq 7 is the following in line; it should be introduced sometime in 2019 and go on sale by 2024.

Despite being a good thing overall, the new EV tax credit rules have generated a lot of controversies.

There are now only a few dozen electric vehicles available for purchase in the US; see the whole list right here.

With major automakers moving production to the USA, it seems to be succeeding in this.

Hyundai will open South Korea first EV factory

South Korea
  • In 2025, the first domestic EV-dedicated plant will commence operations in South Korea.
  •  Hyundai unveiled a Won63tn ($48.1bn) investment plan through 2025 in its native nation.
  •  Union members are also dissatisfied with the company’s plan to invest $5.5bn in the US for an EV factory in Georgia.

Hyundai Motor plans to build its first electric vehicle factory in South Korea next year as the company accelerates its shift to greener cars to meet surging global demand.

Monday’s pay negotiations with the labor union resulted in an agreement on the plan, the union announced Tuesday. In 2025, the first domestic EV-dedicated plant will commence operations.

Hyundai unveiled in May a Won63tn ($48.1bn) investment plan through 2025 in its native nation, as the new South Korean government pushes local business expenditure. In 1996, Hyundai last opened a facility in South Korea.

It is also considered a move to appease the union, which voted for a strike earlier this month to demand greater salaries. Union members are also dissatisfied with the company’s plan to invest $5.5 billion in the United States to construct an EV factory in Georgia.

The Georgia facility will begin construction in the first half of 2025 after breaking ground early in 2019.

Hyundai and Kia’s Ioniq 5 and EV6 electric vehicles, introduced earlier this year, are selling well in the United States, pleasing Tesla CEO Elon Musk as EV adoption increases in the country.

By 2030, Hyundai intends to control 12 percent of the worldwide EV market.
