PDM Bahawalpur: “PDM leaders will end the problems faced by public”, says Gilani

PDM Bahawalpur Yousuf Raza Gillani

Former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, who was representing the PPP at the rally, while addressing the PDM Bahawalpur rally said the charter signed by PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Maryam, Rehman and other PDM leaders, once implemented will end the problems faced by the public.

Gilani said the solution of issues faced by the residents of Bahawalpur and other south Punjab cities lied in them being given their own province and legislature.

He said the federal government had suggested that the secretariat of a future south Punjab province would either be in Multan or Bahawalpur but stressed that “We have asked for the province, not the secretariat.”

He said Prime Minister Imran undermined the PDM but even then its voice was censored and suppressed. “Why do you censor us? Because you are scared? We will fight you on the ground and in the assembly; the end of oppression is near,” he added.

Rigging Done For The Illegitimate Government: Maulana Fazl

Maulana Fazl thanked the masses who participated in the grand rally.

He further added that the PDM leadership will hold demonstrations in solidarity with Kashmiris across the country for their basic rights.

“In the coming days, I see anarchy in the country. We should handle matters before heading towards anarchy,” he said.

Back-lashing the incumbent government, the PDM Chief stated that Imran Khan with other crisis, was also not able to protest the Occupied Kashmir.

“Illegal government is in power in Pakistan, rigging had been done for the illegitimate government while we [PDM leaders] are here to save the future of Pakistan,” added the JUI-F Chief.

PDM Bahawalpur: “The days for PTI government are over,” Maryam Nawaz

PDM Bahawalpur Maryam

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has on Sunday said that Bahawalpur at today’s PDM rally has decided that the days of the incumbent government are almost over and they should pack bags to go home.

Addressing the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) powershow in Bahawalpur, Maryam Nawaz once again lashed out at PTI government and asked do we call expensive electricity and essential commodities a change?

She further added that the PML-N party workers are continuously raising voice for the youth who was martyred in Islamabad by the police.

Maryam further targeted Prime Minister Imran Khan and condemned the terrible act in Balochistan, where eleven coal miners were shot dead.

She pointed out at the premier saying that he has doubled the country’s debt without laying a single brick for the betterment of the country.

Counting all the woes of the people due to the inflation, she said the International Monetary Fund, to make matters worse, has now “directed for the electricity prices to go up by 25%”.

“I feel your pain. Will the people of Bahawalpur make ends meet to feed their families, to pay their children’s fees, to pay utilities or pay for the treatment of the elderly at home?”

“This is why I want us to send this fake, incompetent prime minister packing who, after two-and-a-half years has thrown his hands in the air to declare he does not know how to run the country’s affairs,” Maryam said.

Maryam said that “what to speak of chicken, no one will soon be able to afford vegetables even”.

“Your daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif feels your pain and this is what brought us to you all today,” she added.

The PML-N vice president said that Punjab would be “taunted” for “not standing up for others” and other provinces would say that “unless Punjab stands up, things will not change”.

“Well listen here! Not only has Punjab risen, it is ready to take back the rights it has been robbed off. And when Punjab stands up, whose legs start shaking?” she asked the crowd.

“The selectors and the selected can see that the people of Punjab have now stood up.”

Maryam asked whether the “storm of inflation” must be considered the “change” that was promised.

Earlier, a venue was set up at the lawn of MPA Malik Zaheer’s residence, where the PML-N gathered first.

Addressing party supporters there atop a container, Maryam asked them to follow her to Seraiki Chowk in the form of a procession.

“Come with your daughter, your sister Maryam, to Seraiki Chowk, so Bahawalpur may also announce the end of this fake government,” she said.

India defaming Pakistan through running fake NGOs, websites: FM

Shah Mahmood Qureshi

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi says India is sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan to destabilize it.

Talking to media officials, the Foreign Minister on Monday said Pakistan has exposed the nefarious designs of India by providing irrefutable evidence in the form of dossier to the International Community.

He said India has been defaming Pakistan through running fake NGOs and websites.

FM Qureshi urged the international community to take notice of Indian atrocities and human rights violations in the Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier, as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif had been arrested in a case related to assets more than income, Foriegn Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that it is unnatural and inappropriate to link National Accountability Burea (NAB) with PTI.

During a media talk at Press Infromation Dpeartment (PID), Shah Mahmood had said NAB itself is an independent body, it has nothing to do with the government.

The Foriegn Minister said that PTI was not involved in the appointment of NAB chairman and the law under which NAB was operating was not made by PTI.

PML-N leader Khawaja Asif was involved in FATF legislation and he predicted that things would create difficulties for him in the coming days, said Qureshi.

He further added that NRO is the name of a relief under the guise of which he wanted to move forward while in every civilized society no one is above the law.

Lady of Heaven: PTA moves to block content related to ‘sacrilegious film

Lady of Heaven PTA

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has approached several social media platforms to block the trailer of film Lady of Heaven.

Lady of Heaven is based on the story of an Iraqi child who learns the importance and power of patience. After losing his mother, he finds himself in a new home, where his loving grandmother narrates the historical story of Lady Fatima (AS) and how her suffering as the first victim of terrorism spun out of control into the 21st century.

PTA has moved to block content in the country pertaining to what it termed the “sacrilegious” film.

The authority, in a statement, said that keeping in view “different reports” regarding the movie and its “sacrilegious content”, social media platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, have been directed “for immediate blocking of all content related to the said movie from their platforms”.

It said that so far, 336 links containing promotional material of the movie have been reported to the different social media platforms.

PTA sends notices to Google, Wikipedia

Earlier on December 25, PTA said it has sent notices to tech giant Google and online encyclopedia Wikipedia for disseminating “sacrilegious content” through the platforms.

In a press release, the regulator said that it was acting against Google after receiving “complaints regarding misleading search results associated with ‘Present Khalifa of Islam’ and unauthentic version of Holy Quran uploaded on Google Play Store”.

The PTA said that it has approached Google with the directives “to immediately remove the unlawful content” as it was a matter of a “very serious nature”.

The PTA also said that it had received complaints against Wikipedia for “hosting of caricatures of Holy Prophet (PBUH) and dissemination of misleading, wrong, deceptive and deceitful information through articles portraying Mirza Masroor Ahmad as a Muslim”.

England team arrives Sri Lanka for 2-match test series after virus break

England team arrives Sri Lanka

England cricket team has on Sunday arrived at the Mattala International Airport to take part in the two-match test series against Sri Lanka, which got cancelled back in march due to Coronavirus pandemic.

The England players and support staff underwent antigen tests upon arrival.

Sri Lanka after closing its airspace to scheduled commercial flights since May now only has handful of repatriation flights and charters allowed.

“We are very excited about the Galle Tests,” Root told reporters at the time of arrival.

Airport staff in white hazmat suits sprayed the hands and footwear of the visitors and their luggage before they were allowed into the terminal for coronavirus tests.

Managing Director of England Men’s Cricket, Ashley Giles, said the team looked forward to playing at the seaside Galle stadium adjoining a colonial-era fort.

“To play in Galle will be very special –- it is one of the iconic venues in world cricket,” he said in a statement.

“The past 10 months have been uncertain for us all, but having international cricket returning to Sri Lanka will be a massive boost for cricket fans all over the world.”

Moreover, England abandoned their two-match Test tour of Sri Lanka in March on the second day of a practice match as the pandemic spread.

They will now play their two Tests starting on January 14 at the Galle stadium without any spectators.

Sri Lanka had just six reported cases when England pulled out in March, but the team returned to an island which now has over 44,000 infections and 211 deaths.

Qassem Soleimani killing: Mourners march, lit candles on one-year anniversary

Qassem Soleimani killing anniversary

Today, on January 03, marks the 1-year anniversary of General Qassem Soleimani’s assassination, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Iraq.

A mock funeral procession in Iraq gathered to pay homage to the top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani. Thousands of mourners joined the march on the highway leading to the Baghdad airport on Saturday evening.

As the highway remained blocked with cars, demonstrators carrying posters of Soleimani and al-Muhandis adorned both sides of the road lined with tents that served food and drinks for those walking.

The scene of the bombing was turned into a shrine-like area sealed off by red ropes, with a photo of Soleimani and al-Muhandis in the middle, as mourners lit candles.

Quds Force Threatens Of ‘Harsh Revenge’

Earlier, the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards said in a statement on the anniversary of the assassination of its commander, Qassem Soleimani that harsh revenge awaits those who killed their commander.

Muhammad Hijazi, a commander of the Quds Force, reiterated his threat to the United States. It should be noted that despite growing tensions between Iran and the United States, political rhetoric continues on both sides.

The deputy commander of the Iranian Quds Force, Mohammad Hijazi, said that the demand for severe revenge from the enemy remained. This means that revenge must be on those who ordered and carried out Soleimani’s assassination, but the timing and method of revenge depend on the circumstances.

“We will give the United States two more slaps,” Hijazi told reporters, according to the Revolutionary Guards’ Tasnim news agency. One is to end US influence in the region and the other is to withdraw US troops from Iraq.

“The United States killed our commander in Iraq,” he said. In response, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ordered an attack on Iraq’s Ain al-Assad military base and a mass funeral for Soleimani in Iran.

“Those Involved In Gen. Soleimani’s Killing Shall Be Punished”

On the other hand, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei had said that revenge is sure for those who ordered the assassination of Shaheed General Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in a U.S drone strike near Baghdad airport on January 3, 2020.

Ahead of the martyrdom anniversary of Lt. General Qassem Soleimani, the family of the late General met with Ayatollah Khamenei in Tehran on Wednesday.

“Those who ordered the murder of General Soleimani, as well as those who carried this out, should be punished. This revenge will certainly happen at the right time,” said the Iranian leader.

“Millions attending Martyrs Soleimani and Abu Mahdi’s funerals in Iraq and Iran was the first severe slap to the US. But the worse one is overcoming the hegemony of arrogance and expelling the US from the region. Of course, revenge will be taken on those who ordered it and the murderers,” Khamenei noted.
