The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 5 qualifier teams, Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans have on Saturday paid tribute to Dean Jones, who passed away in September due to a massive heart attack.

Dean Jones, the Australian cricket legend and Head Coach Karachi Kings, died of a massive heart failure. He was 59.

“Forever in our hearts, Deano!” read the screen as the players of Karachi Kings (KK) and Multan Sultans honoured Deano with a minute-long silence and forming the letter ‘D’.

Earlier today, former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram took to Twitter to remember Deano. “You were meant to be here with us today, but unfortunately, life had other plans,” said Wasim.

Wasim said he knew Jones will be watching and cheering for the Karachi team as “nothing” could keep him away from the boys.

“This one is for you, Deano. Hope we make you proud!” said the former left-arm pacer, who is now the head coach of the KK.

Dean Jones has been an active cricket analyst and was signed up to do commentary on the Indian Premier League 2020 now underway in UAE.

Dean Jones was born in Melbourne. He played 52 Test matches scoring 3631 runs at an average of 46.55.

With a 216 as his best score, Jones scored 11 centuries and was an important member of Allan Border’s team.

Jones also played 164 ODIs and scored 6068 runs with the help of seven centuries and 46 fifties.

Jones was one of the first Australian batsmen cut out for the limited-overs game and he was quite successful at it.

Domestic Cricket

Jones began his first-class career in the 1981–82 season with Victoria in the Sheffield Shield. Jones also played for Durham and Derbyshire in the English County Championship.

He left Derbyshire in mid-season and also had run-ins with authority and teammates in his home state of Victoria.

During his career, he scored 19,188 runs in first-class matches, including 55 centuries and 88 half-centuries and a highest score of 324 not out, at an average of 51.85.

DG-ISPR Babar Iftikhar says, ‘India uniting terrorist organizations against Pakistan’

Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG-ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar said that we have information and evidence that India promotes terrorism and has developed a plan to destabilize Pakistan.

Addressing a joint press conference along with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Saturday, DG-ISPR said that Indian embassy and its consulate have been turned into hideouts of terrorists along the border.

“[Indian intelligence agency] RAW transferred Rs55,581 through a bank, whereas, $0.82 had been transferred to TTP commanders besides constituting a force of 700 terrorists by spending $60 million. $23.5 million funds were used creating anarchy in Balochistan”, he said.

“Arms worth $0.26 million had been given to Altaf Hussain group, whereas, India is running 87 terrorist camps. A former Indian diplomat and military general had visited a terrorist camp in Hajigak, whereas, $30 million was dispatched for establishing a camp in [Afghanistan’s] Kandahar. Four terrorist camps had been established for Altaf Hussain group where 40 terrorists received training.”

DG ISPR Iftikhar said the Indian intelligence agencies are also trying to establish Daesh e Pakistan.

“Recently, 20 Indian Daesh militants were relocated from India to camps along the Pak-Afghan border. These militants were handed over to Daesh Commander Sheikh Abdul Rahim alias Abdul Rehman Muslim Dost.”

Iftikhar said that India is stirring up anti-Pakistan elements, as well as providing finance, training and arms to outlawed outfits including Balochistan Republican Army (BRA), BLA and BLF through Colonel Rajesh who is residing in Kabul.

Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mahmood Qureshi has on Saturday slammed Indian troops for targeting Pakistani civilians along the Line of Control (LoC). He also presented a dossier containing details of Indian terrorism carried out in Pakistan.

Kashmore gang-rape: PM Imran lauds ASI-daughter duo’s bravery

Prime Minister Imran Khan has on Saturday lauded ASI Mohammad Bux Buriro and his daughter for their exemplary efforts in rescuing a four-year-old girl from men who tortured and gang-raped her.

The premier has called Sindh Police Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Buriro. He also announced to bring a stringent and holistic Anti-Rape Ordinance, next week, to close all loopholes.

The Prime Minister said the nation is proud of ASI Buriro and her daughter for giving a positive uplift to the image of police.

In a tweet, PM Imran said, “Spoke to ASI Buriro lauding his & his daughter’s exemplary initiative & courage in arrest of Kashmore rapist. The nation is proud of them & he has given positive uplift to image of police. Next week we are bringing a stringent, holistic anti-rape Ordinance closing all loopholes.”

Earlier on Friday, the Larkana police said that the prime suspect in the Kashmore gang-rape has been killed by an accomplice.

According to Nasir Aftab, Larkana’s Deputy Inspector-General (DIG), Rafiq Malik, the main suspect of the horrifying incident, was shot dead by an accomplice as the police drove him to an area to identify the whereabouts of others suspected.

He further said that Rafiq’s accomplices had opened fire at him when saw him with the police. Rafiq lost his life on the way to the hospital.

On the other hand, Khairullah Bugti, a second suspect in the Kashmore gang-rape case was arrested during the operation.

Kashmore Horrifying Incident

A young woman from Karachi was duped by three men who took her to Kashmore with the promise of a job. They gang-raped her before selling her to Khairullah Bugti — a member of the gang — while the child remained with the other two.

Later, she was let go on the condition that she would lure another woman. However, she approached the Kashmore police who helped her recover the daughter.

Earlier, PM Imran had suggested public hanging and chemical castrating the convicts to curb rising sexual violence in the country.
