PlayStation 5: The resale price will blow your mind

PlayStation 5 resale

PlayStation 5 was recently launched in November 2020 and Sony this year again stuck to the approach that made the previous generation PlayStation 4 successful by selling consoles.

Earlier, Sony launched the PlayStation 5 console to strong interest online but pick-ups were limited only to pre-orders due to the coronavirus pandemic that had driven a boom in gaming requests but limited real-world purchases.

Sony CEO says PS5 pre-order demand has been “very considerable”

Sony PS5

Ahead of PlayStation 5 (PS5) launch on November 12, Sony is seeing “very considerable” demand for its (PS5) console via pre-orders, its gaming chief said.

In an interview, Sony CEO  Jim Ryan said, “The demand as expressed by the level of pre-order has been very considerable.”

The tech company pre-sold as many PS5 consoles in the first 12 hours in the United States (US) as in the first 12 weeks for its predecessor PlayStation 4 device.

Sony, however, went on to sell more than 100 million PS4 units.

It also aims to persuade its users to upgrade to its newest launch with enhanced graphics, sound and feedback via a new controller.

The launch came during Coronavirus pandemic and has boosted gaming companies’ revenue but also disrupted retail networks and games development globally.

Furthermore, Sony will grow its studio capability organically, Ryan said, adding that “where we can bolster our in-house capability with selective M&A that might be possible.”

“We’re definitely looking upwards and thinking that we can do better than we thought we could,” said the CEO.

Sony’s shares have gained 45% since March lows. Its shares climbed as much as 1.4% on Wednesday.

Moreover, two versions of the PlayStation 5 console will release on November 12 in Australia, North America, New Zealand, Mexico, Japan and South Korea, later in the rest of the world.

The premium PS5 will be priced at $500, while a “digital edition” designed for the trend of games being downloaded from the cloud will be priced at $400.

PlayStation 5 to go on sale in November starting at $400

PlayStation 5 to launch in November

The most-awaited PlayStation 5 by Sony will launch in November this year.

According to the details, two versions of the PlayStation 5 console will be released on November 12 in Australia, North America, New Zealand, Mexico, Japan and South Korea, later in the rest of the world.

The premium PS5 will be priced at $500, while a “digital edition” designed for the trend of games being downloaded from the cloud will be priced at $400.

“With PlayStation 5, we are making a significant leap to deliver a truly new generation of transformative play experiences that will redefine expectations for what games can be,” Sony Interactive Entertainment chief Jim Ryan said.

Sony has shown off titles being readied for PS5 and provided a glimpse at the console — a dark tower with white sides that encase it like a partially open clamshell.

A “full” model PS5 has a slot for game or video disks, while the digital model does not since titles can be downloaded via the internet or played in the cloud.

Earlier, Sony had said in a statement, “We’ve begun to unveil more details behind the technical and hardware components that make PlayStation 5 such an innovative and powerful platform – the ultra-high-speed SSD, integrated custom I/O system, custom AMD GPU with ray tracing, and highly immersive 3D audio. With these capabilities, PS5™ will allow developers to maximize their creativity, building expansive worlds and new play experiences in the games they design.”

Microsoft last week announced its next-generation Xbox game console will launch on November 10, with an estimated starting price the same as that of the PS5.

The new XBox Series X were available for pre-orders from September 22.

Microsoft said it would sell a slimmed-down Xbox S game console priced at $299, also in November.

The PlayStation 4 had outsold Xbox by more than two to one, but Microsoft hoped to take the battle back to Sony.
