Prior to Pathaan, John and SRK collaborated in an old Pepsi ad

Pathaan
  • Before Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham were seen together in an advertisement for Pepsi.
  • In 2007, the actors poked fun at each other.
  • They vied for the attention of a teenager.

Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham first appeared together in a commercial before collaborating on the film Pathaan. In a 2007 Pepsi commercial, the performers made fun of one another as they competed for the attention of a teenager who was more interested in the soft drink than they were, which was being promoted in new packaging.

Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham are both upstaged in the nearly one minute-long commercial by a young person with attitude. The commercial begins in a cafe where Shah Rukh Khan and John are joking about and making fun of each other’s hair. A small youngster enters and makes a deliberate move in their direction after recognising the performers. Shah Rukh and John noticed the youngster, who was sporting an enormous casual clothing, and debated who should approach the boy first to get his autograph. Shah Rukh made fun of John’s physique, but the latter made it seem like the star didn’t know how to sign a signature properly.

They both stop grabbing the pen from each other’s hands as the boy approaches them and turn to smile at him. The young child then motions for his uncle to move aside and says, “Uncle, zara side dena.” After then, the actors separate, allowing a Pepsi vending machine to be seen behind them. Shah Rukh and John are surprised and ashamed when the youngster approaches the vending machine and retrieves his Pepsi can. Then, in Hindi, Shah Rukh spoke to John “He addressed you as uncle. That did not appeal to me at all.”

Next, Shah Rukh and John spot the same boy again at the cafe. As John gets ready to ‘hit him’ for insulting him the last time they met, the boy asked Shah Rukh if he was holding his Pepsi can. When Shah Rukh said yes, the boy replied ‘thank you, uncle’ leaving John in splits. Shah Rukh then said pointing towards John, “He said thank you (to me), and uncle (to you).”

In their brand-new film Pathaan, Shah Rukh and John collaborated for the first time on a big screen. Deepika Padukone also appears in the action movie, which was written and directed by Siddharth Anand and is produced by Aditya Chopra. Prior to Republic Day in 2023, Pathaan was released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on January 25, 2023. There were rumours of a fight between Shah Rukh and John before the movie’s release regarding Pathaan. However, in recent social media posts, both actors have been complimentary of one another. They have even appeared together at Mumbai’s special Pathaan screenings.

Super Bowl half-time show sponsor changed

Super Bowl half-time
  • The NFL announced on Friday that Apple Music will take over as the title sponsor of the famed Super Bowl half-time show from Pepsi.
  • The sponsorship is the most recent illustration of a technology behemoth supporting live sports in the US.
  • Amazon has already begun to stream the NFL’s Thursday games.

The NFL announced on Friday that Apple Music will take over as the title sponsor of the famed Super Bowl half-time show from Pepsi.

The NFL and Apple declined to provide details on the sponsorship, which was touted as a multi-year contract.

One of the customary highlights of the biggest event in the US sporting calendar, according to US media, the NFL has been seeking sponsorship of the programme for about $50 million a year.

“We couldn’t think of a more appropriate partner for the world’s most-watched musical performance than Apple Music, a service that entertains, inspires, and motivates millions of people,” said Nana-Yaw Asamoah, the NFL’s senior vice president of partner strategy.

The sponsorship is the most recent illustration of a technology behemoth supporting live sport in the US.

While Apple TV has agreements to stream live baseball and Major League Soccer, Amazon has already begun to stream the NFL’s Thursday games.

When the NFL championship game is held in Glendale, Arizona on February 12 in 2023, Apple Music will begin sponsoring the Super Bowl half-time show.

The Super Bowl half-time performance in Los Angeles earlier this year, with performers like Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar, drew in more than 120 million viewers.

Numerous musical legends, including Michael Jackson, Madonna, U2, the Rolling Stones, and Bruce Springsteen, have performed at half-time shows in the past. AFP
