PCB Announces Schedule for 2021-22 Domestic Season

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has disclosed the election date for the selection of the new chairman board, 13th September has been decided to hold the election.

Ehsan Mani has confirmed to Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan that he will not seek an extension as PCB chairman after which PM named two people Ramiz Raja and Asad Ali Khan as the new members of the PCB’s Board of Governors (BoG).

Now, an election could take place if the other BoG member wants to contest, but normally, a PM’s candidate is unlikely to meet any resistance.

Justice rtd. Azmat Sheikh has  been appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner for these elections, however, the election will be held on 13th September.

Ehsan was elected unopposed when PM nominated him three years back. So, Ramiz Raja might also not find any difficulty in making his way to the top position.

Ramiz Raja said, “I have given him (Imran Khan) my plans. He will make a call,”

He added, “The aim is to reset Pakistan cricket’s GPS and will be in pursuit of excellence,”

Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar also shared his opinion that Rameez Raja will completely change the management at PCB.

‘Every young cricketer wishes to be here’, Haider Ali on playing for Pakistan

Pakistan’s top batsman Haider Ali is near to realize his dream of playing for the national team after his impressive performances in domestic cricket and Pakistan Super League (PSL) season five.

“This is a dream come true for me,” Haider said. “Every young cricketer wishes to be here. This is my first tour and though I have shared dressing room with established cricketers in the HBL PSL 2020, being in the Pakistan dressing room is altogether a different experience,” he added.

The 19-year-old revealed that he didn’t get the chance to bat in club matches, so he practiced to improve his drive at the nets.

“I did not get to bat much in matches during my club cricket days. I used to spend a lot of time in nets and focused on cover drives as it is my favorite shot. That practice helped me improve this shot,” he maintained.

Haider is now eager to make the most of the opportunity and proof himself at the international level. “This is my first tour of England. The conditions here are different than Pakistan and even a different kind of ball is used here. Arriving here two months early has been beneficial, as it has provided me the necessary time to practice. I am looking forward to make the most of what I have learned from my previous experiences,” he added.

Third group of Pakistan cricketers leave for England ahead of Test series, T20Is

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday announced the departure of the third batch of cricketers to England.

According to the details, the third batch of Pakistan’s cricketers have departed for the tour of England.

The PCB shared images of the players leaving for the bilateral tour, which comprises of a three-match Test series and three T20Is.

The first Test between England and Pakistan will be played in Manchester from August 5. Southampton will host the remaining two Test matches that will begin on August 13 and August 21.

The side will return to Manchester for the three T20Is which will be played on August 28, August 30 and September 1.

ECB confirms Pakistan’s three-test matches date, venue

England Cricket Board confirmed dates and venues for Pakistan’s three-Test tour, with the series starting at Old Trafford on August 5.

International cricket returns on Wednesday following the coronavirus lockdown when England play the first match of their three-Test series against West Indies at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, followed by two matches at Old Trafford, in Manchester.

The first match of the Pakistan series will also take place at Old Trafford, with the second two at the Ageas Bowl. The second Test starts on August 13, with the third beginning on August 21.

Both venues are considered bio-secure, with hotels on site.

Old Trafford will also host three Twenty20 international (T20I) matches between England and Pakistan, on August 28, 30 and September 1.

Ireland will play three one-day internationals (ODIs) at the Ageas Bowl on July 30, August 1 and August 4.

Misbah-ul-Haq, other players enjoy being on field after a long gap

Head coach Misbah-ul-Haq enjoyed being on the field after a gap of almost three months due to Coronavirus outbreak.

In a video released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after the squad did their first training session here ahead of Test series against England, Misbah said that players are motivated and are looking forward to make the most of given time period before they take on the English side in August.

“It is good to be back on the field after a long time. We really enjoyed our session today and we are looking forward to continuing this positivity throughout the whole tour,” he said.

Batting coach Younis Khan hopes that youngsters will adjust in new cricket conditions soon and will deliver against the home side.

“It is exciting to be a part of Pakistan’s contingent once again. I believe youngsters will show their strength here,” he said.

Moreover, Pakistan will play three Tests and as many T20Is against England in August and September.

Six more Pakistani players to join team in England

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that six cricketers are now eligible to join their team in England after being tested negative for coronavirus for the second time in three days.

“Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan and Wahab Riaz have tested negative for Covid-19 for the second time in three days and, as such, are now eligible to join the Pakistan men’s national cricket team in Worcestershire,” the PCB stated in a statement on its website.

The players were retested on Monday following a first negative test on June 26.

The PCB will now prepare their travel arrangements and departure details will be shared in due course.
