“We have to live without Him,” says Misbah On Younis Khan’s Resignation

Misbah Ul Haq Younis Khan

Pakistan men’s team head coach Misbah-ul-Haq has said that he is not thinking much about the absence of Younis Khan, who left ahead of the England tour.

Misbah-ul-Haq, in his recent statement, said that he doesn’t want to comment on the matter mutually decided between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Younis Khan.

“I won’t comment further as the matter is between PCB and Younis. We have to move forward with the resources we have,” Misbah said.

“Of course, the players have benefited from Younis’s experience but now we have to live without it,” he added.

“The tour of England is always important and has become even more important before the World Cup. Playing against a strong team will give us a good opportunity to prepare,” Misbah said.

“First there are ODI matches, then there will be T20 matches. Players can bring back their form,” he further mentioned.

Earlier this month, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Pakistan men’s national cricket team batting coach Younis Khan withdrew from his position.

He was appointed last year in November on a two-year contract until the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan

“It is sad to lose an expert of the stature and experience of Younis Khan. Following a series of discussions, we both have reluctantly but mutually and amicably agreed that it was time to move in different directions,” he said.

“I want to thank Younis Khan for his contributions during his short stint as the Pakistan men’s national cricket team’s batting coach and hope he will remain available to assist the PCB by sharing his vast knowledge with the emerging cricketers.”

Both PCB and Younis Khan have agreed not to make any further comment on the reasons for the former captain’s departure.

Misbah is confident as Pakistani players are ready to face the Kiwis

Misbah-ul-Haq

Pakistan cricket team’s head coach Misbah-ul-Haq has said that some players have been affected badly due to New Zealand government’s regulations.

In a statement by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Misbah applauded players and support staff for staying committed during these unprecedented times of COVID-19 since the England tour.

“I want to compliment my players and the management team for their patience, sacrifices and the hardships they have endured to ensure they not only lead the safe resumption of international cricket during the Covid-19 pandemic since the series in England but also try to give their best every time they step on the field,” said Misbah.

“Top professional athletes require a certain environment to prepare so that they can perform at the minimum expected levels every time they represent their countries. While we completely respect and understand the New Zealand Government Laws, which have been put in place for the health and safety of their public, there is no denying the fact that the implementation of certain regulations has affected our athletes, both mentally and physically prior to an international series,” he added.

However, Misbah is confident that his players will be ready to face the Kiwis as their isolation period is about to end in few days.

Misbah-ul-Haq says there is no need for major changes for Zimbabwe series

Misbah-ul-Haq

Head coach Misbah-ul-Haq on Saturday indicated that there may not be wholesale changes in the Pakistani team for the upcoming home series against Zimbabwe, saying that the team is already composed of young players.

While speaking to media officials in Lahore, the former captain said that the national team is already pretty young and might only need minor tweaking instead of mass chopping and changing.

“The Pakistan team is already composed of young players,” he said. “It had lost two senior players right after the World Cup.

“[In fact], we might change a thing or two to make the team even stronger.”

Explaining that the seemingly unimportant Zimbabwe home series is actually important, Misbah said: “We should keep in mind that the points earned from the ODI series would count towards World Cup qualification.”

He also underscored that finding new combinations and creating able back-ups were among his priorities while structuring the team.

The Zimbabwean side is considered one of the weakest ones in the world, leading some to suggest that the series be used to experiment with young untried talent.

‘Mohammad Amir’s inclusion will strengthen the side for the England matches’: Misbah-ul-Haq

Mohammad Amir

Pakistan’s head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq believes Pakistan’s side will be strengthened by pacer Mohammad Amir’s presence during the England tour.

“It is unfortunate that fast-bowler Haris Rauf continues to test positive for the coronavirus,” Misbah said while speaking in a video posted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). “We were waiting for him to recover and become available for the England fixtures.”

He said that the side was running out of time to prepare and therefore decided to include the experienced Amir for the three-match T20I series. He added that the left-arm pacer’s inclusion will strengthen the side for the England matches.

The cricketer had earlier ruled himself out of the tour due to the expected birth of his second child.

Mohammad Amir has twice tested negative for coronavirus in succession before he can be eligible for the England tour. The PCB conducted the first test on Monday.
