Liam Payne Reflects On One Direction Fame: “It Left Scars On Me”

Liam Payne opened up about facing “low moments” after achieving fame with One Direction in an honest interview.

The singer, known for hits like “Strip That Down,” revealed that he struggled with the consequences of fame, admitting that he didn’t fully grasp the impact of joining the renowned boy band. After auditioning for The X Factor in 2010, Payne became part of One Direction alongside Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson.

During a candid conversation with Colombia’s W Radio, Payne expressed gratitude for his “great life” and the opportunities his job has brought him. However, he also acknowledged that fame has taken a toll on his mental well-being.

“When I started, I don’t really know if I knew what I signed up for, and I’ve been doing my job since I was 14 years old,” Payne revealed. “I’ve been very lucky to hold the job for that long, which is great, but I do think it definitely left scars on me.”

He emphasized the need to address personal issues before embarking on such a career. Despite the challenges he faced, Payne expressed contentment with his journey and the sense of purpose it has given him.

“I wouldn’t change a thing now that I am where I am,” he said. “I’ve kind of made my own sense of why I ended up at this place.”

Having gone through difficult experiences, Payne hopes to use his platform to help others who might be facing similar challenges.

“If I can help anybody out in my position, not so much on the fame side but the things that happened to me before and kind of stop that from happening to somebody else, that would be my life’s dream,” he shared.

Acknowledging that there were moments of struggle, he emphasized the importance of having the right support system. Payne considers himself fortunate to have had people around him during his toughest times, helping him seek the necessary help. However, he recognizes that not everyone is as fortunate.

“I’m double grateful to be on the other side of it now and to have something to say,” he concluded. “It might change somebody’s life.”

The 29-year-old pop star rose to fame in 2010 as a member of One Direction alongside Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Harry Styles, and despite the fact that the group has been on hiatus since 2016, Liam felt it was “massively important” that he supported Louis at the premiere of his documentary ‘All of Those Voices’ on Thursday.

Liam Payne told: “I’m feeling good, I’m so excited. I was trying to surprise Louis by coming in but I didn’t know how I was going to get in otherwise.”

Liam Payne added, “It was massively important for me to be here, I’ll be honest with you – all the boys have been here for me and I’ve suffered a bit of a dark time in my life at the moment, and honestly, I wouldn’t be here without the boys.”

The ‘Strip That Down’ hitmaker, who has five-year-old son Bear with ex-girlfriend Cheryl but has been seeing Kate Cassidy since October last year, went on to add that he was “so eager” to see the new documentary.

He added: “I’m so excited to see this. I can’t wait. He is so passionate about what he does. Even being here, it is so nostalgic and these guys are all amazing so I am really excited for him.

Last month, Liam Payne stated that while he “cannot see” the band reuniting, he would be “surprised” if their paths did not cross again in some fashion at some time.

He said: “Getting back together at some point is hard to imagine right now. But I’d be surprised if we lived out our lives and didn’t have a moment where we had a reunion, or whatever you want to call it. I’d be up for that. I do miss the boys and I do definitely miss being one of the five, but I like doing my own thing too.”

Niall Horan made an unexpected announcement on Twitter.
He plans to release a third studio album and tour music festivals in support of it.
The singer/songwriter previously released his debut album, Flicker, in 2017.

The former member of One Direction made an unexpected announcement on Twitter on Thursday night, saying he has plans to release a third studio album and tour music festivals in support of it sometime in 2019.

“I’m back. I’ve got new music coming in the new year that I’m really proud of, and I appreciate you being so patient with me while I’ve done it,” Horan told fans in the social media video.

Unlike previous album announcements, Horan, 29, didn’t give any other details about a possible release date or album name.

Fans have been eagerly anticipating new music from the star following the release of his second album, Heartbreak Weather, in 2020. He previously released his debut album, Flicker, in 2017.

Fans won’t have to wait long, though, as Horan hinted in his social media video that he intends to return to the road soon for a number of appearances at music festivals all around the world.

“Something that I’ve wanted to do forever is festivals, and I’ve never really had the opportunity to do it,” he said. “I think we will be announcing some festivals in the next couple of days and weeks and months for next year, which I’m really excited about.”

The Voice season 23 coach Horan, who was introduced earlier this month, said filming for the upcoming season, which will premiere in the spring, is currently underway.

On the 23rd season of The Voice, which will be Blake Shelton’s final run as a coach on the show, he will be working alongside returning coach Kelly Clarkson and new coach Chance the Rapper.

Horan ended his social media video with one last sentiment, saying, “Can’t wait to see you soon… See you in the New Year.”

Liam Payne is still looking back and reliving the moment when Zayn Malik left One Direction more than six years ago.

The singer decided to share a hilarious instant of him and his bandmates, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan meeting with management for the first time since Zayn made his shocking departure, On Monday.

Within one hour the video garnered a million likes and over 3 million views as it surprised Directioners that Liam would even address the moment.

He wrote, with the hashtag, The singer made it clear that the video was all in good fun: “forgot I made this a while ago hope you see the funny side,” #sunshine, referring to his newest single.
