President urged nation to review successes, failures for better 2025

ISLAMABAD:President Asif Ali Zardari congratulated the Pakistani nation and the international community on the beginning of the new year with an exhortation to the nation urging it to review the successes and failures of the past year to learn from it and strive for a better year ahead.

In a message received from the President’s Office, the president prayed for the development and prosperity of the country and the nation at the beginning of the new year.

“May the new year bring peace, stability, progress and prosperity to the nation. I hope that the new year will be a year of progress and prosperity and peace and stability at the global level. To get the country out of the challenges, the nation has to work with unity, discipline, continuous hard work and dedication,” said the president.

He added that the youth of the country should be invested in developing their skills by providing opportunities and in order to make Pakistan strong, the focus should be on the development of the poor.

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar expressed his government’s resolve to make Pakistan a hub of development and prosperity in the new year.

In a message to the nation, the prime minister said the year 2024 was significant for the country in its determination to achieve the goals of peace and a strong economy.

PM Kakar urged the demonstration of unity among the ranks of the nation to attain success in every field of life. He paid tribute to the martyrs of the country who sacrificed their lives for the homeland.

He felicitated the nation on the occasion, however mentioned that the government had banned the celebrations of the new year in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

He also pointed out that 2023 was a year marked by the violence and aggression of the Israeli authorities against the innocent people of Gaza.

The prime minister hoped that the international community would play a role in ensuring peace in Palestine and ending the genocide committed by the Israeli authorities.

New Year: 24 people injured in celebratory firing in Karachi

KARACHI: As many as 24 people including women and children injured across the Karachi in celebratory aerial firing on the eve of the new year.

According to the details, 24 people, including women and children, were injured as a result of aerial firing on the connection of the New Year in different areas of Karachi. The injured were shifted to different hospitals in the city.

Firing incidents were reported in Saddar Town, Garden Usmanabad, Light House, Civil Hospital Raja Mission, Hussainabad, Nazimabad Board Office, Nazimabad Bridge, Liaquatabad, Five Star Chowrangi, Kharadar, Kashmir Colony, Dhoraji Chowrangi, Expo Centre, Al-Asif Square, ICI Soomro Gali, Landhi Future Colony, Nagan Chowrangi, Qasba Colony, Kati Pahari, Water Pump, FB Area, Jamshed Quarter and Burns Road.

On the occasion of the New Year, the injured persons were shifted to Dr. Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre(JPMC), and Abbasi Shaheed Hospital(ASH).

On the other hand, two people died in traffic accidents near Karsaz Bridge and Saddar Cooperative Market.

Karachi Police arrested 11 suspects including two police officers while taking action against the suspects involved in aerial firing incidents on the occasion of New Year.

SSP City said that the accused were found firing in the air in different areas of the city district, four people were slightly injured in the aerial firing in the city district, who have been discharged from the hospital after treatment.
Police said that further legal action is being taken against the arrested accused by registering cases under Section 324 of the Arms Act.

The SSP City further said that departmental action will be taken by registering cases against the police personnel involved in the aerial firing.

On the other hand, PTI Member Sindh Assembly Raja Azhar reached Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) to visit the injured. He requested the hospital administration to speed up the medical procedures for the injured.
