Federal Govt imposes ban on PTM

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Sunday has imposed a ban the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), citing threats to national peace and security.

According to a notification issued by the Interior Ministry, the PTM is declared “unlawful” under Section 11B of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997.

The announcement from the Interior Ministry stated that the PTM poses a “significant danger” to public order and safety in the country.

It should be remembered that a few days ago PTM chief Manzoor Pashteen had also met Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

In the meeting with Ali Amin Gandapur, Manzoor Pashteen invited him to attend the Pashtun Qaumi Adalat.

Earlier, a resident of Khyber tribal district moved the Peshawar High Court against the establishment of Pakhtun Qaumi Adalat by the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) in the district.

The petition was filed by a resident of Khyber, Khatirullah, through advocate Daniyal Asad Chamkani.The federal and provincial governments, commissioner Peshawar Division, deputy commissioner, Inspector General of Police, and Manzoor Pashteen, the leader of PTM have been named as respondents in the petition.

The petition read that previously, the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) was imposed in the former tribal areas, but after the 25th Constitutional Amendment, these areas were merged into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to investigate Manzoor Pashteen in jail.

Islamabad High Court Justice Miangul Hasan heard the details of the cases against Manzoor Pashteen and the bail application, during which the court ordered the FIA ​​to investigate Manzoor Pashteen in jail.

The court said that the law is that when a person is already arrested, just proceed with the case, it does not happen that the accused escapes in one case and then arrests him. A person arrested in one case can be arrested in another case and interrogated in jail.

Justice Miangul Hasan said that the Islamabad High Court had given a decision on the arrest of a person arrested in one case in another case. He said, “If the decision of this court is not challenged, then it becomes final”.
