ISLAMABAD: The US Ex-Ambassador Ms. Robin L. Raphel, called on Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, at Finance Division.

Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar welcomed Ms. Robin L. Raphel and shared deep rooted and strong bilateral relations with the United States on economic and trade fronts.

The Finance Minister shared economic policies and priorities of the government to address the challenging economic and socio-economic development of the population.

The two exchanged views on matters of mutual interest in the backdrop of Pak-US relations and further deepening the existing bilateral relations between the two countries.

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States of America (USA), Masood Khan discussed bilateral economic and commercial relations between Pakistan and USA.

They discussed this during a call on meeting on Friday.

The Ambassador apprised the Finance Minister that the friendly relations between the two countries are deepening and mutual cooperation is enhancing between the two countries with the passage of time.

Highlighting the long historical relations between the two countries, the minister stressed upon making efforts to further enhance the business collaboration between the two countries which has a great potential of growth given the opportunities for business and investment available in Pakistan.

Negotiation with IMF almost completed: Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Ishaq Dar has said that negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) almost completed.

In his Twitter message, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said anti-Pakistan elements are spreading malicious rumors that Pakistan may default. He said this is not only completely false but also belie that fact.

He said that the foreign exchange reserves of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) have been increasing and are almost US $ 1 billion higher than four weeks ago despite all external due payment. He said foreign commercial banks have started providing facilities to Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar said here on Wednesday that the Board of China Development Bank (CDB) has approved a US $700 million facility for Pakistan.

In his tweeter message, Ishaq Dar said that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) was expected to receive this amount in the ongoing week which shore up the country’s forex reserve.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Ishaq Dar on Wednesday said that the present government is concerned about the welfare of the people.

US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome met with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, in which economic and trade relations were discussed while opportunities to further strengthen economic relations were also discussed.

In the meeting, Ishaq Dar gave a briefing on Pakistan’s national and international financial responsibilities and also informed about the government’s policies in the difficult economic situation. It was also agreed to further promote the existing bilateral relations between the two countries.

On this occasion, US Ambassador Donald Blome expressed his satisfaction over the government’s policies for economic stability and economic development and said that there are strong relations between Pakistan and the United States.

Last month, US Ambassador Donald Blome called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and discussed a range of bilateral issues.

The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to deepen economic and trade engagement with the United States. He reiterated that Pakistan attached importance to its longstanding ties with the United States.

PM Shehbaz Sharif stressed that structured and broad-based Pakistan-US engagement is critical to advancing both countries’ shared goals in both bilateral and regional domains.

The prime minister thanked the United States for its continued support for Pakistan’s post-flood reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts, including at International Conference on Resilient Pakistan in Geneva.

Ambassador Blome said the United States would continue to support Pakistan’s post-flood recovery as well as the Government’s efforts for economic development and reform.
