Dakota Johnson felt very awkwardly involved in the legal disputes involving Johnny Depp and Amber Heard due to a 2015 viral video clip.

“For the love of God, why? I exclaimed. Why am I participating in this? Johnson recently gave Vanity Fair an explanation. Please get me out of this—I don’t even remember that at all. Stop this before it gets worse.”

In the widely shared video, Johnson, 32, can be seen seeming worried as her “Black Mass” co-star places his bandaged finger on the table next to her at a Venice Film Festival press conference in 2015.

The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor testified during the Depp v. Heard defamation trial that his ex-wife cut off the tip of his finger with a vodka bottle during an altercation in 2015.

Over 3 million people watched the video clip labeled “The EXACT time Dakota Johnson KNEW Amber Heard was VIOLENT towards Johnny Depp” during the live-streamed trial.

“Oh my God, can you even begin to think if I were asked to testify? Johnson went on. I find it incomprehensible that people are following the trial like a television program.”

“My heart hurts like though I’m watching a courtroom drama. It’s really insane. People are so f-king strange. The internet is a very dangerous place.”

Based on the publication of an international news website’s op-ed in which she claimed to be a victim of domestic abuse, Depp finally prevailed in his defamation lawsuit against Heard.

Depp and Heard have both experienced the potential of succumbing to the cancel culture, which Johnson also touches on in the recent interview.

In terms of the cancel culture, Johnson stated, “What I struggle with is the language — the whole premise behind canceling a human being, like they’re an appointment. No one can avoid making mistakes in life.”

The purpose of living, she added, “is discovering it. Hurting or causing harm to another person is never acceptable. These actions have repercussions. However, the idea that the Twittersphere will decide if someone suddenly ceases to exist is terrifying, tragic, and incorrect.

Johnson does, however, find comfort in the knowledge that social media does not accurately reflect reality.

According to the “Fifty Shades of Grey” actress, “I do think that it will pass.”

“I think that ultimately people want to live in a better world. In addition, what percentage of the world’s population uses Twitter? Some of these individuals can’t even spell, I mean.”
