Customs seizes five million tramadol tablets worth billions in Karachi

KARACHI: The Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Karachi has seized more than five million tramadol tablets worth billions of rupees from exports goods from Karachi Terminal to Africa.

According to Raza Naqvi, Deputy Collector of the Customs Enforcement, 5.6 million tramadol medicines worth of Rs 2.8 billion have been recovered from the export goods sent from Karachi Terminal to Africa.

Tramadol under Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) is a controlled psychiatric (Controlled Psychotropic Drug) medicine.

The Deputy Collector said tramadol medicine is used in drug addicts and is banned in many countries, tramadol pills were shown to be the export consignment of towel.

Deputy Collector Mohammad Raza Naqvi said that the consignment containers had been cleared from the Karachi terminal with the risk management system. The Anti -Smuggling Squad stopped the container at Port Qasim before loading the ship.

Deputy Collector of Customs Enforcement Mohammad Raza Naqvi added that a case has been registered under the Customs Act while trying to arrest the accused.

KARACHI: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Customs Intelligence and Investigation recovered smuggled electronic cigarettes worth millions of rupees in a major operation in Karachi.

FBR Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized a huge amount of smuggled electronic cigarettes during a raid in a building on Shahrah e Faisal on a tip-off.

Under the direction of Director Customs Intelligence Habib Ahmed, the smuggling team raided the building and recovered more than 20,000 smuggled electronic cigarettes, their parts, and flavors.

The value of seized smuggled goods is over Rs 90 million. The owner of the smuggled goods could not produce its legal importation document. The intelligence team arrested the owner and registered a case. The accused is being interrogated about other accomplices.

According to DG Customs Intelligence Habib Ahmed, this is the biggest operation in the country’s history which has been foiled by the FBR Anti-Smuggling Karachi team.

Navy, PMSA and Customs seized 1,450 kg drugs at sea

KARACHI: Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) and Collectorate of Customs Enforcement seized 1450 Kg narcotics in a joint intelligence based counter narcotics operation in North Arabian Sea.

During the successful joint operation, security forces apprehended largest amount of narcotics in-terms of quantity that included 586 Kg of Ice crystal and 864 Kg of heroin. The seized narco is valued approximately Rs 15 billion in International market. The arrested smugglers and drug cache handed over to Custom authorities for legal proceedings.
