KARACHI: Commissioner Muhammad Saleem Rajput has imposed a complete ban for two days on the carrying/ display of arms, aerial firing. and use of fireworks in the jurisdiction of the Karachi division under Section 144 Cr.PC to safeguard of precious lives of the citizens on the eve of New Year (Dec 31 and Jan 01).

According to notification issued here the other day, the Commissioner while exercising powers conferred under section 144 (6) Cr.PC delegated by the Home department, the Commissioner has imposed a ban on above mentioned activities for two days i-e 31st December 2023 and January 01, 2024, with immediate effect.

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Saleem Rajput has constituted committees to control the prices of milk, fruits, vegetables, and meat.

According to the details, Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Saleem Rajput has indicated strong action against inflation and has formed committees to control the prices of milk, fruits, vegetables, and meat in the city.

The report of all the committees will be submitted to the Commissioner Karachi in one or two days. Commissioner Karachi has said that the final decision will be taken in two days regarding the price of milk.

4th Commissioner’s Karachi Marathon held in Karachi

KARACHI: The 4th Commissioner’s Karachi Marathon held today at Nishan-e-Pakistan Seaview with the aim of promoting peace and sports in the city.

The marathon was inaugurated by Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho at Nishan e Haider Park. A large number of citizen participated in the marathon.

Commissioner Karachi Mohammad Iqbal Memon said that foreign diplomats and dignitaries along with important personalities from different fields participated in this marathon. Strict security arrangements have been made at Seaview. The volunteers in uniform monitord the participants of the marathon.

Commissioner Karachi said that drinking water, first aid, washroom, food and drink facilities, and shuttle service have been provided at different places during the marathon, and fire brigade and first aid were also available to help in case of any kind of emergency.

Special arrangements have also been made for the provision of relief, on this occasion, ambulances and necessary medical personnel were also esent at various locations.

Volunteers were also present to guide the participants along with deputing traffic police personnel
Apart from this, every registered runner has been issued a chest number and only registered persons will be able to participate in the marathon.

Explaining the details of the competitions in the marathon, he said that there are two categories in the marathon for men and women, a race of twelve kilometers and seven and a half kilometers category, while the fun race of one kilometer, in addition to special children and there was a family fun race.
Rs 50,000 will given to the first place in each category, while the second place will get Rs 30,000 and the third place will get Rs 20,000.

Commissioner Karachi orders to demolish dilapidated buildings

Commissioner Karachi has ordered the demolition of dilapidated buildings in the city.

According to the details, Deputy Commissioner South has compiled a list of damaged buildings in Lyari and Saddar Town and ordered to take action in stages.

In Lyari, three buildings have been demolished in the last two days and more are being bulldozed.

In Karachi, dilapidated buildings and substandard constructions have become a serious threat to human lives.

The Sindh Building Control Authority has declared 49 buildings in Lyari as extremely damaged and dangerous.

According to the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), the total number of damaged buildings in Karachi at present is 422, of which the most damaged buildings are in the southern district with more than 300 which may meet any accident at any time.

Administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Iftikhar Ali Shallwani earlier said that more than 400 buildings are in deplorable condition in the city, and notices were already issued to the inhabitants for evacuating the same.

Shallwani stated it was very sad that the people are dying in such incidents. According to a press statement from KMC, he said that strict action would be taken against responsible for the loss of human lives. “FIRs have been lodged against the responsible persons of previous collapses of buildings,” he added.

Building Collapse Incidents in 2020

Five buildings have collapsed in Karachi this year, killing more than 50 people.

February 2020

Earlier, in February a ground-plus-five storeyed residential building constructed on an 80-square-yard plot in Lyari’s Usmanabad developed cracks before tilting dangerously.

 March 2020

A building built on plots of forty yards was five storeys high. The owner was also constructing the sixth floor when the whole building collapsed which affected two other buildings as well.

June 2020

In June, a five-storeyed residential building located in Lyari’s Kalri area collapsed, killing more than 22 people.

September 2020

A four-storeyed residential building in Allahwala Town in District Korangi collapsed last Thursday, killing four people.

September 2020

The recent incident happened on September 13, when a two-storey building collapsed near a coal warehouse in the Lyari area of ​​Karachi.

The building collapse left two dead and twelve others wounded. The injured were then shifted to Civil Hospital.
