KARACHI: The 4th Commissioner’s Karachi Marathon held today at Nishan-e-Pakistan Seaview with the aim of promoting peace and sports in the city.

The marathon was inaugurated by Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho at Nishan e Haider Park. A large number of citizen participated in the marathon.

Commissioner Karachi Mohammad Iqbal Memon said that foreign diplomats and dignitaries along with important personalities from different fields participated in this marathon. Strict security arrangements have been made at Seaview. The volunteers in uniform monitord the participants of the marathon.

Commissioner Karachi said that drinking water, first aid, washroom, food and drink facilities, and shuttle service have been provided at different places during the marathon, and fire brigade and first aid were also available to help in case of any kind of emergency.

Special arrangements have also been made for the provision of relief, on this occasion, ambulances and necessary medical personnel were also esent at various locations.

Volunteers were also present to guide the participants along with deputing traffic police personnel
Apart from this, every registered runner has been issued a chest number and only registered persons will be able to participate in the marathon.

Explaining the details of the competitions in the marathon, he said that there are two categories in the marathon for men and women, a race of twelve kilometers and seven and a half kilometers category, while the fun race of one kilometer, in addition to special children and there was a family fun race.
Rs 50,000 will given to the first place in each category, while the second place will get Rs 30,000 and the third place will get Rs 20,000.

Body of female doctor recovered from Seaview

KARACHI: The body of a female doctor (physiotherapist) who drowned at Karachi’s Seaview beach couple of days ago was recovered on Sunday.

22-year-old girl Sara Malik went missing from Karachi’s Seaview beach and it was later transpired by police that she might have committed suicide while jumping into the sea.

Police have shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre(JPMC) for autopsy and recorded statements of family members and witnesses.

Police said the victim was a resident of Karachi’s Azam Basti.

According to initial reports, the girl has been sexually assaulted and the girl has committed suicide under mental stress.

Sources said that Sara Malik was a doctor at the animal hospital and had left home for work on Friday. The woman had a relationship with the owner of the hospital for a long time. The police arrested the owner and a female doctor from the hospital.

However, the police said that the heirs of the girl claim that Sara Malik could not commit suicide, so they are looking at the matter from other aspects, besides, a mobile phone was also found in the bag of the girl, with the help of which they are investigating further.

A case of the incident has been registered at the police station on the complaint of the girl’s father.

It is pertinent to mention here that the mysterious incident caught attention after her bag with identification documents was found near Do Darya’s spot.
