Balochistan Assembly passes agricutlural income tax law

QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly also passed Tax on Land and Agricultural Income Amendment Bill after Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh.

In Balochistan, the path to tax implementation on agricultural income was paved. Balochistan Assembly passed the law of Balochistan Tax on Land and Agricultural Income Amendment Bill.

According to the draft law, the income tax on agricultural income will increase by 45 percent.

According to the law documents of the Balochistan Tax  on Land and Agricultural Income, presented in the Balochistan Assembly, no tax will be imposed on agricultural income of 600,000 annually, but 15  percent tax will be imposed on income from 600,000 to 1.2 million.

According to the draft law documents, the income of Rs 1.2 million to Rs 1.6 million will be imposed on 90,000 fixed tax and a 20 percent tax on the total income of Rs 1.2 million .

Similarly, 170,000 fixed taxes have been proposed on 1.6 million to 3.2 million income while 30 percent agricultural tax has been proposed on income above 1.6 million.

The draft will have to pay Rs 650,000 tax on income from Rs 3.2 million to 5.6 million while 40 percent agricultural tax will have to be paid on income above 3.2 million.

According to the draft, the income of Rs 5.6 million will be taxed at Rs 1.6 million and 45 percent agricultural tax will have to be paid on additional income if there is more than 5.6 million revenue.

Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb welcomed the approval of a tax bill on agricultural income from all four provincial assemblies and said, “We will now be in a good position in the International Monetary Fund’s half -year review.”

He said that the tax burden cannot be restricted to salaries and manufacturing sectors only.

Quetta: A session of Balochistan Assembly summoned for April 23 (today) has been postponed due to unavoidable reasons.

According to the announcement issued by the Balochistan Assembly Secretariat, it was called by Governor Balochistan Abdul Wali Kakar on April 23 at 3 pm.

It is being told that the session of the Provincial Assembly has been postponed due to unavoidable reasons, the new date of which will be announced later.

The current session of the Provincial Assembly was to continue for 10 days from April 23 to May 2.

Governor summons Balochistan Assembly session on Feb 28

QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar has convened an assembly session on February 28 (Wednesday) at the Balochistan Assembly Building, during which newly elected members of the Provincial Assembly will take the oath.

The outgoing Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly, Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali, will preside over the session and take the oath from the elected MPAs.

After taking oaths by the newly elected members of the provincial legislature, the schedule for the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be announced.

QUETTA: The names of the Government Parliamentary Committee for the nomination of the Caretaker Chief Minister of Balochistan have been sent to the Speaker Balochistan Assembly.

Sources say that Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has finalized the names of the members of the parliamentary committee for the nomination of caretaker chief minister of Balochistan.

Sources say that the names of the government parliamentary committee have been sent to the Speaker Balochistan Assembly.

Sources say that the parliamentary committee includes Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, Sardar Abdul Rahman Khetran and Zamarak Khan Achakzai.

It should be noted that the government and the opposition could not agree on a single name for caretaker chief minister of Balochistan.

Later, the matter went to the parliamentary committee. If the parliamentary committee could not agree on a single name, then the provincial election commission will appoint Chief Minister of Balochistan.

Balochistan Assembly dissolved after Governor signs summary

QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly was dissolved after Governor Malik Abdul Wali Kakar signed the summary sent by Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo for the dissolution of the provincial assembly.

“As advised by Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, the Chief Minister of Balochistan, and in the exercise of the powers conferred upon me under Article 112(1) of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan 1973, I, Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar, Governor Balochistan hereby dissolve the Provincial Assembly of Balochistan, this 12th day of August 2023,” said the notification issued by the Governor House.

The provincial cabinet also stands dissolved while Chief Minister will continue to hold the office until the appointment of the caretaker chief minister.

CM Bizenjo and Leader of the Opposition in Balochistan Assembly Malik Sikandar will hold consultations regarding the appointment of an interim chief minister.

On the other hand, four names are being consulted for the caretaker chief minister.

According to the sources, former members of the National Assembly Usman Badini from Jamiat Ulema Islam, and provincial member Hamal Kalamati from BNP are being nominated for caretaker chief minister.
