Angela Bassett is an actress, director, and producer from the United States. Bassett has received multiple awards for her depictions of African-American female leads, including three Black.
Old Dominion University presented the award to the Black Panther actress, who was also a keynote speaker at the university’s 2022 commencement ceremony on Friday.
Taking to Instagram Angela wrote, “Hey Everybody you good? I’m so happy and humbled to receive an honorary doctorate from @olddominionu today! Education is truly the KEY.”
The actress was eager to point out, however, that the royalty she was referring to had nothing to do with “superheroes, kingdoms, or magical powers,” but rather with the graduates in front of her.
