In 2022, Kartik Aaryan and Anees Bazmee joined forces to create magic with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, propelling the actor to new heights as it became his first blockbuster. Notably, it also played a crucial role in luring moviegoers back to the cinema halls in the post-COVID world. Given the overwhelming response, Pinkvilla first reported that Bhushan Kumar’s production house was gearing up for a third installment, reuniting Kartik Aaryan with Anees Bazmee. The makers soon confirmed the project and even locked the Diwali 2024 release date.

Now, in an exclusive update, we have learned that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is all set to begin filming in February 2024. “Currently, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is in the scripting stage, and the team has finalized the basic plot for this iconic horror comedy franchise’s third chapter. The concept is now being crafted into a full-fledged story. Bhushan Kumar himself is deeply involved in ensuring all aspects of this horror-comedy are just right, and he is committed to commencing filming in February 2024,” revealed a source closely associated with the project.

Before diving into Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Anees Bazmee is expected to wrap up shooting for his upcoming comedy starring Shahid Kapoor, tentatively titled “1722 – Ek Saath Do Do.” “Anees Bazmee will immerse himself in the pre-production of BB 3 towards the end of this year. Kartik, Anees, and Bhushan are all deeply invested in preserving the essence of the Bhool Bhulaiyaa brand while incorporating a unique element into the overall narrative. The shooting will span over four months, starting from February,” added the source.

As for Kartik Aaryan, he will complete shooting for “Chandu Champion” before embarking on this chilling comedy adventure. “He may also sign on for one more film before BB 3, but the decision is yet to be made. Kartik is currently reading several scripts and is expected to finalize one within a fortnight,” disclosed the source.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 will be produced by T-Series and helmed by the talented Anees Bazmee. The film is all set to enchant audiences with laughter and fright, as it is confirmed to hit the cinema halls during the festive season of Diwali in 2024. Just last month, Bazmee confirmed that he was in the process of penning the script and that filming would likely commence in July or August, once the writing phase was complete. Excitingly, the makers have now also finalized a release date, coinciding with the Bakri Eid weekend in 2024. However, there’s a twist in the tale, as the film is all set to clash at the box office with Kartik Aaryan starrer Chandu Champion.

Shahid Kapoor and Anees Bazmee’s highly anticipated comedy is scheduled to hit theaters on June 14, which aligns with the Bakri Eid festivities. Adding to the anticipation, renowned filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala recently announced that Kabir Khan’s directorial venture, starring Kartik Aaryan, titled Chandu Champion, is also slated for a Bakri Eid 2024 release on the same day. Consequently, it appears that both films will go head-to-head in a box office battle on this auspicious occasion.

As we eagerly await further details about Shahid Kapoor and Anees Bazmee’s comedy, it’s worth noting that the duo’s collaboration marks an exciting milestone for fans. Bazmee mentioned in an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla in June that he was currently in the writing phase, aiming to begin filming in July or August. He expressed his enthusiasm about the project and stated that while a significant portion of the writing had been completed, creative work couldn’t be constrained by strict timelines. The untitled comedy caper is reportedly being produced by Dil Raju, but an official confirmation regarding the film’s release date is yet to be announced.

Simultaneously, Kartik Aaryan’s Chandu Champion, a sports drama inspired by an extraordinary real-life story of an indomitable athlete, is set to captivate audiences. The film, which marks the first collaboration between Kartik and director Kabir Khan, promises to be an inspiring tale of resilience and determination. Recently, Kartik himself revealed the film’s title and release date on social media, exclaiming, “Chandu Nahi.. Champion Hai Main..#ChanduChampion – 14th June 2024.”

Varun Dhawan has appeared in a number of comedies and romantic comedies throughout the years, including Main Tera Hero, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Judwaa 2, and Coolie No. 1, to mention a few. And the actor appears to be returning to that realm very soon. We have exclusively learned that Varun Dhawan is in talks with popular filmmaker Anees Bazmee for a straight-up comedy.

According to a source, Varun and Anees have been discussing a possible collaboration for quite some time now, and things are now getting ahead. “They recently met and discussed the idea of teaming up on a comic caper. They will be doing the film once their current commitments are wrapped up,” stated a person close to the initiative, adding that despite not having worked up earlier, Varun and Anees enjoy a strong bond.

“Anees Bhai has written over 15 films for David Dhawan and is now all excited to make his maiden collaboration with Varun a special venture. Having acted in David Dhawan comedies, this would be a new world of humour for Varun, and even he is looking forward to the film. If all goes as planned, the comic caper will go on floors by next year end,” added the source. Anees has several ideas that will suit Varun’s personality and will begin developing them soon. The filmmaker’s next project will be a sequel to the 2005 blockbuster No Entry, starring Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, and Fardeen Khan.

“The Varun Dhawan starrer will be his next after No Entry 2,” informed the source. We reached out to Anees Bazmee for his comment on the development. The director confirmed that he is looking forward to working with Varun, but didn’t delve into much details. He exclusively told Pinkvilla,  “Yes, definitely I want to make a film with Varun. I have written so many films for his father, David Saab and have known Varun since he was a 6 year old kid. We had even spent a lot of time on the sets of Aankhen back in the early 90s. He is a fantastic actor with good comic timing.”

The director, who is flying high after the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, went on to say, “We met recently and spoke about the idea of collaborating. Right now, I am on the lookout for the right story for our collaboration. We share an emotional bond, and hence, our first film together needs to have a fantastic script. You will know it at the right time.”

Finally, when can we expect to hear more about this? “Very soon,” he says. Anees is well known for his comedic roles in films such as No Entry, Welcome, Singh Is King, Ready, Welcome Back, and, most recently, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Aside from directing, he has written for several David Dhawan successes from the 1990s. And his life will undoubtedly come full circle as he prepares to direct Jr. Dhawan aka Varun.
