WhatsApp privacy: Here is how you can secretly view anyone’s status update

WhatsApp Status privacy

The global messaging app, WhatsApp privacy shows a feature that will let you secretly view someone’s status without letting them know about it.

WhatsApp’s Status privacy trick is one of the most loved tricks of this application.

The first thing you need to know is about two WhatsApp features that are involved here- Read receipts and Status.

Just to refresh, Read receipts are for those blue ticks that you see when your message has been read by the recipient on WhatsApp. Enabling the Read receipts will let you know whether your message has been read or not. If you disable the feature, you will only see double tick which could mean the message has delivered but may not be read the recipient.

However, coming to the status, WhatsApp Status allows you to share text, photos, videos and animated GIFs that disappear after 24 hours. Your Status will be seen by your saved contacts only. WhatsApp Status also allows you to hide your posts from specific people if you want.

When is WhatsApp Multi-device feature coming?

The ‘Linked Devices’ feature is currently under development and is not live for anyone. This means even if you have the latest beta version of the app installed on your smartphone you will not be able to use the feature.

For now there is no guarantee when the company will launch the feature. It might be in a few days or months.

According to an earlier report, the WhatsApp Web screen was showing the string “Use WhatsApp on other devices” and apart from this, if you were to install a fresh copy of WhatsApp, a new loading screen would appear asking users to connect to a Wi-Fi network before proceeding to the setup process. If the user were to ignore the prompt, the app shows a message stating, “Using mobile data may be slow and may use a large amount of your data plan.”

Messenger, WhatsApp likely to get cross chat support

Cross Chat

Last year, Facebook was reportedly considering cross-platform chat integration between WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram. Now, WABetaInfo has discovered evidence of cross chat support between Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp in the latest version of Facebook Messenger.

The hints reveal how Facebook is working on a way to contact WhatsApp users through the Messenger. This will enable WhatsApp users to chat with people on Facebook Messenger without an account.

WABetaInfo explains that it found a database on Facebook Messenger, which will allow Messenger to understand whether WhatsApp contacts are blocked. It will also contain details on the state of a chat and whether push notifications are active.

However, chat content itself is not stored in this database yet.
