Disney+ debuts couple of new ‘Star Wars’ shows

As the streaming service Disney+ introduces a pair of new programmes, the Star Wars world is coming to tiny screens with compelling tales.

According to Deadline, the streaming giant presented the programming roster at the four-day Star Wars Celebrations 2022 event, which was hosted at the Anaheim Convention Center in California.

According to the source, Tales of the Jedi will premiere later this year.

The newly announced series “will feature prequel-era Jedi stories and will premiere in the fall.”

Furthermore, Young Jedi Adventures is set in the High Republic era and will be launched in 2023 on the platform.

The series will also “follow Younglings as they learn the ways of the Force — with compassion, self-discipline, collaboration, and patience – to become courageous warriors,” according to the site.

Disney+ has also made waves with its recent announcement that it will debut an Obi-Wan Kenobi series starring Ewan McGregor.

Disney reveals their “realistic” lightsaber technology

Disney unveils its first real-life retractable lightsaber, and it looks incredible

Star Wars fans will be delighted to know that the animation giant has just unveiled a sneak peek of the fictional weapon – indicating that it’s about to become a reality. Disney Parks released a very short clip of what appears to be a working lightsaber.

The 13-second clip showed off a Disney performer dressed as the “Star Wars” hero Rey turning on a lightsaber, with a solid, retractable blade of light extending from the hilt, just like in the movies. It’s not a visual effect or a camera trick it’s as real as a lightsaber can get in this galaxy.

Disney’s lightsaber has been created as part of the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser immersive hotel project – an upcoming two-night immersive attraction, in the style of Westworld.

According to Disney, the ‘sabers are currently being created by Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development, and they’ll be ready for the opening of the attraction in 2022.

Star Wars actor Jeremy Bulloch passes away at 75 in London

Star Wars hero Jeremy Bulloch, who played the role of Boba Fett as the bounty hunter, passed away at the age of 75 in London.

The British actor took his last breath on Thursday. According to the British media, the Star Wars actor was suffering from Parkinson’s disease.

Star Wars official Twitter account also confirmed the news of Bulloch’s demise.

“Jeremy Bulloch, whose unforgettable performance as notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett has captivated audiences since he first appeared in 1980’s Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, has sadly passed away.”

It further says, “He will be remembered not only for his iconic portrayal of the legendary character, but also for his warmth and generous spirit which have become an enduring part of his rich legacy.”

Jeremy portrayed feared bounty hunter Boba Fett in films The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi.
